Amazing is all that really needs to be said!! The food here is some of the best I have ever had, anywhere!! Had one of the best Onion Soup's, packed with a perfect balance of flavor, melted cheese and crisp bread crouton.... that is how...More

We truly love this restaurant. The food is the best in San Antonio, the service is excellent, and the dining room history and elegance make you want to linger. My personal suggestion is: do not miss the bread pudding. Forget the calories, this is the...More

Good value. Plentiful variety. Excellent service. Our waitress was Aracel. She was attentive but not hovering. Her service seemed genuine. The variety of food was very good and of good quality.

What a lovely location for breakfast! The room is so pretty and you feel like you are back in time! Great service and tons of choices on the buffet. Well worth the cost!

Breakfast here was amazing, from omelets and waffles made to order, to fresh fruits, biscuits and grits.

I enjoyed brunch on a Saturday morning in the peaceful Colonial Room Restaurant overlooking the garden courtyard of the Menger Hotel. The all-you-care-to-eat brunch ($16.50/person) included made-to-order eggs and waffles, as well as a buffet stocked with all sorts of breakfast foods (fruit, grits, muffins,...More

Luckily we only ordered appetizers so we only wasted a bit of money. We ordered crab cakes, shrimp and crab cocktail and French onion soup. The shrimp cocktail was rubbery and tasteless with no crab (we were told they had no crab) and the crab...More

My wife and I went to this restaurant because of its physical charm and good Trip Advisor reviews. Our experience was not good. We went on a Sunday night and the restaurant was deserted. There were folks at only four other tables which should have...More

The food was very good and the service was friendly. And, of course, since we were staying in the Menger Hotel, you could not ask for a more convenient location! We highly recommend this restaurant.

Hello. The Colonial Room does not serve American colonial food. I would categorize the menu as continental cuisine. I imagine the term "colonial" refers to the fact that Texas was colonized by Americans when it was still... More

Description
Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant reflects the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. Decades of elaborate balls and parties have been hosted in this room.Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which tastes even better at a table in the garden courtyard.
