This place was very small so make reservations. It is within walking distance of the ferry, but off the main road. The food was excellent and so was the service. We would definitely return!

The food was excellent - the octopus appetizer and the chicken were especially good and the seafood was also good. Good local wine selection.

Mike, We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your dining experience at Coho Restaurant. Chef Bill's octopus is a house specialty - wonderfully seasoned, delicate and incredibly tender. (The recipe is on our website if you want to give it a try at home!) The chicken is a Jidori chicken. Unlike Kobe beef that is from a particular region... More

We opted for an early dinner and enjoyed the chefs tasting with upgrades to get the beef and the halibut. We both enjoyed our meals and the ice cream at the end was the perfect touch.

Donna, Thank you for dining at Coho Restaurant. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our chef's tasting. We make our ice cream in small batches using cream from a local dairy and farm fresh eggs. Each flavor is exquisite. We are glad you agree. We would love to have you back for dinner the next time you are... More

We arrived just after 5 and were seated right away. Intimate restaurant with only 9 tables. Limited menu selection because everything is from fresh local ingredients. In addition to regular offerings of fresh fish and beef tenderloin, there were a few specials. My husband and I shared a delicious octopus appetizer that was done to perfection. My husband then had... More

Angie, Thank you for dining with us. Chef Bill's octopus is a quite a favorite. It is moist, delicate and incredibly tender. If you would like to recreate the dish at home, the recipe is on our website. We use 5-6 pound sustainably caught Spanish day boat octopus. With our appreciation for dining with us, Anna Maria More

Early dinner of wonderful NW cuisine at Coho. Recommend reservations as the space is small. Service was great. Early (5 - 5:45 pm) Prix Fixe menu with wine was a great value.

Christopher, We are glad that you took advantage of our Chef's Tasting. It is such a great value and provides a great way to sample the breadth of our menu - soup of the day and salad, entrée and one of our fabulous house made ice creams or sorbets....oh and did I mention a bottle of wine? Next time you... More

The chef and his staff are outstanding. This small (just 9 tables) beautiful restaurant in Friday Harbor serves delicious cuisine prepared from local farm vegetables and fruits and dairy products, has a wonderful wine list, and an enticing selection of desserts (the orange ginger sorbet was magnificent). I am a vegetarian and I was very pleased with Coho's inventive creations... More

William, Thank you for dining at Coho Restaurant. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your culinary experience. Chef Bill loves to work with ingredients from local producers, many from the Island, during the peak of the summer bounty. Our orange sorbet is a lovely way to end your meal. It is refreshing digestivo that cleanses your palate after... More

We got married here in 2015 and Coho hosted the reception. It was awesome! The food was amazing. For our one year anniversary we returned to Coho for dinner. They customized a 5 course vegan wine pairing just for us! The service was incredible, the food was perfect! We will always return to Coho when we visit San Juan Island.... More

I enjoyed my food at Coho--it was creative and mostly well-executed and presented. Not the best restaurant in town (I thought Back Door Kitchen and Black Fish Bistro were better) but a solid choice. Very friendly and prompt service. Dessert was delicious!

Of the 'high end' restaurants on the island, we rate this with the top 1 or 2. Have lived here for nearly 30 years, have tried them all. The Coho's meals and presentation are all first rate - unique and nuanced. Service is attentive, and ambiance pleasant, even in a small room. We'll keep taking our special visitors here!
