We chose Max's Tavern for its proximity to a local cemetery where we had a graveside service as well as our prior experience at the restaurant. We did not want a sit down luncheon, and Max's was able to provide us a space as well as a steady stream of salads and appetizers for our guests. While the event planner... More

I had heard good things about this place so I took some colleagues here for dinner one evening. Looking at the prices on the menu I expected too of the line food. Dont get me wrong, it was good, but not that price good. You can find similar fare much more affordably or find better for a similar price in... More

If you tea lover, they have amazing tea selection that are not to find in groceries stores. Earl grey tea and green jasmine are the best one. And cremme brulle are awesome too.

I come here in April for an annual conference. This was the go-to restaurant. Not anymore. What happened to the outrageous bread basket? Much more limited menu. The hush puppies were tasty, but very little sauce. Chopped salad has always been excellent. Still is....fresh mixture of veggies with blue cheese crumbles & a vinaigrette. Penne chicken pasta was a big... More

I went out with my parents for dinner. Max's was offering a special dine-in promotion for "tax day". The regular menu was served. We began with drinks. I ordered the Pineapple Cosmopolitan which was bland and lacked pineapple flavor. For $10 this was a small craft cocktail that did not leave me wanting any more. The waiter asked if we... More

Good food but too pricey for what you receive. Been there multiple times and have spent much more than expected. Service is ok and nice environment.

Presentation of the food items was top notch. A group of 10 women, many different lunch orders, but each looked beautiful. More important, everything tasted as good as it looked. All were very pleased with their lunch orders. The gals commented that their food was well prepared, served warm, and tasted wonderful. Several asked for doggy bags, but as usual... More

Nice decor, friendly waiters and excellent oysters. The food was very good , my Salmon was medium as requested and all greens and salad were fresh and nicely presented. I had a drink called el Diablo, omg, it was unbelievable! I am looking forward to go back on my next visit to Springfield.

Had a very good meal at Max's. You can't go wrong with the steaks and filets. In my opinion it is way over priced. Over a hundred dollars for two people with no alcohol, no bread and no salad is a bit excessive.
