Dinghy restaurant with good food pretty much says it all. Johnny cakes and Portuguese hash were hits. Good coffee too.

Stopped at this diner on way to a tour of the "Cottages". Very friendly waitress, quick service. Seats in diners normally a little old and tattered, these looked brand new. Had their Eggs "A LA SPA" - grilled tomatoes, poached eggs, green peppers and cheese over an English Muffin with hash browns. Great food and a fun experience.

Fantastic hot turkey sandwich with homemade potatoes and dressing - just like Thanksgiving. Also stopped a couple of days ago and had a scallop diner - really well done. It is a diner and meets every expectation . Staff very friendly.

So I spotted this place when we took a wrong turn and decided I had to go here. The menus are greasy as other reviewers have written but the food was delicious. I felt like I stepped back into the 50's. Can see the cook making your breakfast. Service was good and staff friendly. Prices good. Some interesting combinations on... More

Haven eaten breakfast here most mornings whenever I visit Newport. It's located in an "old fashioned" style diner. You are instantly greeted at your table with a cup of coffee and the breakfast selections are numerous. I always have an omelet and there is definitely plenty to eat on your plate. Prices are competitive and the service and staff very... More

Just looking from outside the place looked dirty , we walked in and the smell was weird the menus were gross looking . I immediately told my husband i would only have coffee and he knew exactly what I meant we left in a hurry

This is an old school diner with the looks and feel of a real diner. I love the booths and especially the counter seating where the cook slings the food on a hot grill steps away from you. The atmosphere beats any diner in NJ. I stopped in for breakfast during lunch hour. I had the veggie omelette which came... More

The food is awesome with a wonderful selection. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The portions are huge too. Bring cash.. they do have an ATM on the premises. My go-to place when in Newport!

The first time I took my girlfriend (now wife) for a weekend in Newport, RI; we found Bishop's Diner outside the Navy Base. We were impressed with the strawberry and banana pancakes. We have tried making them at home, but can't match the atmosphere of this Diner. Fifteen years later we enjoyed them again. Our only complaint was the cost:... More
