It's been a while since I have been been here but I was asked by friends where to have a nice dinner in Honolulu as I have vacationed there many times. This place is a diamond in the rough. Located in a strip mall next to a gentlemen's club one would not expect the quality of food prepared here. The... More

Akasaka has been serving quality sushi and other Japanese cuisine for longer than I can remember. Still at the same place, a little difficult to find, near Ala Moana Shopping Center. Sushi only has fresh quality ingredients, can't go wrong with any selection. Ask the chef for his recommendation. Other side dishes are also great, tempura/scallops so good. relatively cozy... More

If you're looking for a nice, quaint, authentic sushi restaurant while on Oahu, Akasaka is the place to go! The fish was fresh, expertly prepared and the service was great! The last time I tried o-toro was in Japan and when I saw it on the menu, I had to try it. It's not cheap. It was perfect! Melt in... More

Attended an event at the Hawaii Convention Center and was looking for a place for a late dinner. A friend recommended Akasaka. It's a little hard to find but well worth the search. Having just returned from visiting Okinawa, it was nice to dine at an izakaya in Honolulu. Akasaka is know for their negiri (sushi) and I'm sure it... More

Excellent sizzling scallop dish. Ordering Sushi is a must, along with some beer, wine, or spirits. The menu has several items that one can choose from. So many dishes that one needs to return again to taste those wonderful dishes that they were not able to order.

Found this place out of desperation and lack of time (a long story and not that exciting). Anyhow, the place is located on more of an alley than a street and shares the building with a Strip Bar. I have to say I was very hesitant about walking in but I sure am glad that I did. The food was... More

At first......the location was not impressive at all. It's like a hole in the wall kinda place. My son knows about to place because his a foodie kine of a person. Apparently, I'm sure you've heard the saying "Don't judge the book by its cover?" Well, dinner and service where very excellent. The scallops to the miso butterfish and the... More

Excellent sushi - large, fresh, authentic selection of sushi and sashimi. I actually don't normally eat raw fish but like theirs because always buttery and high grade. My son who likes natto says they have the best natto there. Comfortable and casual. A little on pricey side but always a good meal and time there. Been there at least 10... More

Came here for Mothers Day dinner...yes, a bit hard to find on Kapiolani Blvd., but if staying at the Ala Moana Hotel next door, very convenient and easy to find & get to. Looking at other similar reviews, we were recommended the grilled scallops entree and was not disappointed...succulent, fresh, juicy, and perfectly grilled....followed the manager's recommendation for the chef's...
