Second visit for lunch, a year later. Tiny, 15? seats around a U, the staff in the middle. No wait at 3 PM. Pairs of seats are divided by acrylic panels. The staff wears masks and is scrupulous about hygiene. Ask for the vegetarian menu,...never offered. My wife and I shared a bowl of ramen which the waitress divided for us. There are two types - shio [salt] and miso @ $18.00 each. We tried both and couldn't much tell the difference. A large helping of ramen with some vegetables. You can order extra vegetables. We had 6 pieces of veggie gyoza @ $9.90, sizzling hot and delicious. An ample, satisfying meal.More

I’ve been wanting to try oxtail and this place had it. It was a half hour wait or so outside but it was SO worth it. The spicy oxtail ramen was the best ramen I’ve ever had! The soup was so flavorful and rich and...the oxtail was tender and so yummy. It’s a small dining room but the service is great! If you see a line outside don’t get discouraged just wait and it will go quick. Definitely check it out! The best ramen in Waikiki!More

Liked spicy ramen. Regular bowls are huge-portioned. For average woman, half a bowl is just right. I don’t recommend gyoza. It’s a tiny restaurant with limited seating so you may get seated faster if you break into smaller groups if in a large party.

Small place. Very cozy. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We ordered oxtail ramen and miso butter ramen. Both were delicious. The fried garlic pieces were great. There is usually a line but we arrived at 11 so there wasn't one.

Recommended by a sales clerk from Tokyo for an authentic ramen shop. Small, About 25 seats in a U shape, the center for waiters. Diners separated by acrylic shields. The vegetarian ramen topped with fresh shredded green pepper, mushrooms, carrots, tofu in a delicious broth....Veggie dumplings crisp and delectable. $34.27. Midday Saturday brisk business but a few seats available. I wish I could ld eat lunch there every day.More

I visited Ramen Nakamura about four years ago, and it was love at first sight and at first bite. The physical layout is just so reminiscent of ramen shops in Japan it took me back to my time spent living in Japan, and the many...many ramen shops I frequented. The staff and service were terrific. The ramen was just right. Four years and the worst of a pandemic later, I was happy to see that they had survived the pandemic. If anything, I thought that their food was even better than it had been four years ago. The spicy ramen hits all the right flavor notes with me. My wife had a tonkotsu ramen and thoroughly enjoyed it. The gyoza is excellent. Although not as generously filled as at some other ramen shops I visited, the wrapper was just perfectly crisped, and noticeably more tender than at other shops. The balance between filling and wrapper is just right. I hope to go back and have a second round of ramen before heading back to the mainland. Let me share a few thoughts that I hope will be useful. Seating is at a counter. There is no outdoor or table seating. You can do take-out. To try to avoid the spread of Covid there are now partitions that separate you from adjoining guests. There are perhaps 15 seats. It fills up quickly, so it is wise to go during off-peak hours. We arrived shortly after the 11 AM opening time, and got seated right away. By the time we were done, all the seats were filled and I suspect that soon thereafter there would have been a line. Turnover is rapid. The food comes out quickly, and ramen aficionados do not take long to go through a bowl of ramen. Your stomach may not be on Hawaii time in any case, so this may lead you to visit during lulls. I would avoid going during the peak hours if possible. Finally, the restaurant does not serve alcohol. As I said, take-out is an option. Don't let it stop you from trying their food.More

We were strolling around Waikiki on our first night and encountered this restaurant. It reminded me of ramen places in Tokyo when we lived there back in the 1990s. We came back for lunch the next day shortly after they opened, so we were able...to sit down right away. We had the spicy ramen and kimchi ramen, both with the gyoza set. The gyozas were wonderful - very fresh and well prepared. We both loved our ramen - very rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles and a surprising satisfying portion. Ox tail ramen was the specialty here, but we are not big fans. Must say that everybody that did order the ox tail seemed very satisfied. Worth a stop if you like ramen.More

The Oxtail is to die for and so is the gyoza! There is often a wait since they only have a few seats, so try to go at off times or for lunch. If you do have to wait, it is totally worth it!

The food is DELICIOUS!! easy walking distance of many hotels in Waikiki. There are always lines out the door and with very good reason. all of the food was SO good, from the ramen to the garlic fried rice. It was so good we went...back the next day for lunch because once just wasn't enough.More

We popped in during late afternoon for some Ramen. Not busy at the time. Seating was separated by plexi for social distancing. Plenty of sanitizer. Vax card and temp checks at the door. The service here was excellent. Water glass never emptied. We had Ramen...and Fried Rice. Both were good -- plentiful dishes. Good pace and promptly delivered the food. A bit pricey for Ramen but considering it was Waikiki it was probably not out of line. We did not try other Ramen restaurants. I would try the restaurant again as there were plenty of choices.More

We stayed just around the corner to Ramen Nakamura at the Ritz so it was a quick walk for me to pick-up dinner for the one night we stayed in. I went around 7:00 pm and it was very busy. There is a sign-up sheet...for both dinning in and take-out. I would suggest reviewing the menu on-line and knowing what you want to order before you get there. I ordered 2 of the Miso Ramen, 1 Spicy Ramen w/chasu, 9 of the pan fried dumplings and kimchi fried price. In total, it took about 40 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I was leaving with food in hand. Long but just be prepared as it is a small restaurant with a steady stream of customers. Everything was well packed and accurate. I loved how each soup bowl had a partition on them to separate the broth from the noodles! When we got set-up in the hotel room, we simply removed this portion and mixed everything together. Everything was piping hot and fresh. The dumplings (which is one of my wife’s favourite foods) was loved by all of us. A little crispy on the bottom, great flavour and the right thickness of wraps. The broth was a little salty so we didn’t finish it all. We could have boiled some water and had some on the side if we really wanted but we didn’t feel it was needed (I read some reviews that mentioned this prior to going so I can see what they meant). All in all, highly recommended. Probably one of the cheapest meals we ate during our trip (other than the food court at Ala Moana Centre) so great value all around!More

I had the spicy ox-tail ramen here. I had it once during the middle of my trip and had to eat it again on my last day. It is pricy but I guess that's expected in Waikiki area. The broth is awesome! Note: The staff...checks for vaccination card and photo ID. There is a long line for dinner so get here early!More

Our group came in for a late Saturday dinner. The line had subsided and there was no wait. Restaurant is small and seating is limited. Service was good. Our "Tokyo" entrees had very little meat and vegetables.

When you get there put your name on a list and wait for your number to be called. There are only 30 seats or so. It's not large. We all got the combo with fried rice, ramen and gyoza. It was all very good!
