Been coming to Hide-Chan for years now. My family's favorite Okinawan restaurant by far. The consistency of the food in taste and presentation is remarkable. Our faves is the fried akule and the Goya tempura, but everything on the menu is wonderful. we've tried everything. If you like Okinawan food put this place on your to do list.

I used to live around the corner from this place so it was so nice to come here after work and walk home happy and full. They make really good authentic Japanese and Okinawan food. Seafood is fresh. It's a small restaurant so go early for dinner because it can get crowded. There are only 3 parking stalls in the... More

I feel like it's comfort food, and makes me feel good. It's like having a home cooked meal. Almost all the dishes are good.

Hide-Chan's been in its current location for quite a while. It's one of those places that I've been interested in trying, but I never quite get around to visiting. Finally tried it last night with the family, and had a nice time. It's a cute little family-run place, serving Japanese/Okinawan food, with a lot of teishoku (a "meal set," with... More

Had Lunch with my Ladies today and the food was great, But you must know a little Japanese. the menu is written in japanese with very little english, But the ladies there can explaine it to you in english. It takes a while before your food arrives so if you are in a hurry, it's no place for you. The... More

If you like good Okinawan food at a reasonable price. Check it out! The pigs feet soup is delicious but not greasy and too salty which is what you come to expect from this dish. The ribeye steak although smaller than 16oz.s is excellent. At $21-$22, not too bad a price. The miso butterfish teishoku is a nice portion but... More

Da Boyz went to Hide-chan restaurant in Moiliili, across from Longs, da old Star Market. Nice mom-pop place with Okinawan and Japanese kaukau. Limited parking. Last month in Okinawa, I asked one store clerk what’s the 2 hottest Okinawan chili sauce you got (out of 50-60 on the display rack), bought them and one other at another place. So we... More

Great family style Japanese food aimed at locals. Not as formalized as Japan and not aimed at the Californians in Waikiki. Tasty food with great service at great prices. I was very surprised how good their soba was for an outlet of this type. Hele on down.

Ok, it is not really "hidden" although it is so non-descript that many people...including me..pass by it without even realizing that it is a restaurant. It might be termed a hole-in-the-wall place for Japanese and Okinawan home cooking. If that is what you are looking for, you can't do any better. The teishoku meals are good value and we have... Great local family restaurant specializing in Okinawan food. Service, presentation, and value for your money is really good. The 2 choice teishoku is a wonderful selection - sashimi and tempura yummmm. The bean sprout and tofu champura was perfect. Parking is a bit hard to come by but definitely worth driving around the block a couple of times for. BYOB.... More
