This is the temple of chocolate. They make chocolate in the same way as in the 16th century, when the Spanish occupants of Sicily imported chocolate beans directly their colonies in Central/South America. Modicano chocolate is different from any other. There is no butter or milk in it, only cocoa, sugar and flavors. The array of flavours is amazing, and... More

Stopped on our way and weren't disappointed. Even brought a bottle of the chocolate liquor home. Cool, the influence on Italian cuisine from South America includes not only chocolate, but the tomato!

Best chocolate in town (that means basically the best you can find in Italy or so). Perfect for souvenirs or gifts.

This chocolate shop is a wonderful piece of living history. Run by the same family for generations, they still make their chocolates according to ancient recipes - and the results are sheer bliss. In addition to their huge range of chocolates they also make pistachio cannoli which are "to die for". This shop alone is a reason to make a... More

Went to Bonajuto to purchase (and taste) some typical Modica chocolate. Plenty of different flavours and made to order cannoli to die for. They also do tours of the facility but I just focused on tasting!

The amount of chocolate we bought here would have risked us going into prison for importing so much chocolate without a permit. Our favorite: pepperoncino chocolate, sweet with a late kick of spices.

Hidden behind the main street is the famous Antica Dolceria Bonajuto. The chocolate is known all over Sicily to be one of the best, the cannoli were even better. A must when in Modica. The coffee place is missing

We enjoyed spending some time visiting this chocolateria. Yes I made that word up. It was lovely hearing about their method for making the chocolate and trying their samples. We ended up taking back so much chocolate and everyone loved it.

The staff kept bringing out new chocolate to taste test fresh from the kitchen. Was fun to taste the types of dark chocolate. We brought chocolate for presents and we some for ourselves. Would recommend to go.
