Last year when I was a tour guide one of my tourists told me this is the "Best Place in the World to buy fish. Often holiday makers heading home would insist on buying fish here to take with them to eat at the airport before boarding the plane. Tourists heading to holiday homes wanting a taste of the Cape... This fish coukd not be fresher cookdd to perfection and melted like butter in your mouth. No place to sit down in the shop so grab your fish and chips and go sit on the promenade over looking the sea. Simple food nothing better

On Saturday 31 December 2016 my son said "I feel like fish and chips". Come we drive to Fish Hoek (from Retreat) and see if that Fish Shop is open. They were indeed open and quite busy. I bought a hake and chips parcel for him and his son and a piece of hake only for me. We then drove... More

We patronise FHF every week when in FishHoek. Their fish is amongst the best we have ever eaten ,even in the UK If possible avoid Fridays as the queuing is rather lengthy, but it is still worth the wait Our favourite is Hake , middle cut.! Try it.

This is a typical fish and chip shop. There is no sit down facilities. You buy your fish and take it away. It comes wrapped traditionally in news print. Inks being toxic, it is clean unused paper. You order in a line at the till and the orders are filled as practical and called by number as per your till... More

You can't go wrong with a portion of hake and calamari here. Fresh and tasty. A take away to cheer the heart.

Locals call them "slap" (pronounced slupp) chips, the opposite of crisp chips which is just what you want when you open up the white paper to reveal the delights within. This place has been going for years and there are always people coming back for more so they must be doing something right. Fish - hake and snoek and sometimes... More

Live quite near this place, this a once a week stop over for us. The best fresh fish and chips around. Always taste fresh, real good value for money. If you like to taste something different try the calamari or Snoek ( a local fish similar to Barracuda )

Leave the tourists and go to where the False Bay Familiars-the locals- get their fish and chips. Employers and employees, small business owners, naval officers all queue side by side to get a taste of False Bay's best fish and chips. Generous portions and consistent quality
