If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Penang's coffee shops and market stalls go and relax in Rasa Sayang's Spice Garden Cafe. The local dishes are excellent though perhaps somewhat less spicy than elsewhere. I prefer sitting outside among green bushes and trees and enjoy the excellent service. Prices are on the high side, but not exorbitant.

The Spice Market Cafe is one of the restaurants within the Shangri La Rasa Sayang Resort. We were staying there so we had breakfast everyday and dinner on two evenings. Breakfast is a very comprehensive buffet with something for everyone. Some dishes are cooked to order eg eggs and supplies of other dishes are regularly topped up. There is an... More

The choice at the buffet at the Spice Market is absolutely huge. Shrimps, crab, oysters, indian curries, italian, malaysian, you name it. Everything I had was delicious. It was a little more expensive than the local restaurants, but it was worth it.

Came here for dinner and left feeling extremely happy with our choice. I think the price you pay for the quality of food is incredible even if you don't get as much variety as I have seen in other buffets.

Food was good - though not exceptionally so. Dessert offerings were rather more interesting than main courses. Lovely restaurant, but if it's a cool evening, I'd recommend sitting on the terrace to enjoy natural breezes. It's likely to be quieter if unruly children are around.

We had breakfast here three times, on each occasion, the hot food was not hot, in fact the fried eggs were almost cold. The cold food was good and there are plenty of options, but it is very crowded.

This large resort restaurant has a very large and varied range of food characteristic of diverse Asian and Western cuisines. One can eat at a "Garden table" [preferred in the evenings] or indoors. There are also "food stations" where the dishes are "cooked to order".

We were staying at the Shangri La so had breakfast here everyday. The selection was amazing and so much was freshly prepared. Would definitely recommend it.

We were staying in the hotel and went to the spice market for dinner one evening. I could not believe when we got the bill for about €100 for two people for the buffet and just two glasses of wine. It is too overpriced and you can get a better meal for a quarter of the price elsewhere.
