We walked all the way through Matlock to come here before reading the TA reviews as we could not get sufficient internet signal. Very disappointing.

We'd read the raving reviews and were really excited about visiting the Victorian tea shop on our trip to Matlock Bath. So imagine how we felt when we saw the for sale sign and the closed notice. So today we walked away from the cream tea we'd promised ourselves and the photographic exhibition. We do hope new owners take it... More

Visited the Museum of Photography upstairs and then came down for a cup of tea. There is not much you can say about a pot of tea but it was very nice. The cafe is just as you might expect a Victorian cafe to be, nicely decorated with striped wallpaper, small round tables with proper tablecloths and lots of plants.... More

If it was possible I'd give this 0/5, the worst place I've ever eaten in my entire life. My sister and I had gone for a stroll round Matlock Bath and when seeing this café we thought our past mother would have loved it as it was 'victorian'. It was anything but a run down disgusting piece of trash. We... More

Called in the Victorian Teashop for drinks today, which took 20 minutes to arrive (coke and orange juice!) My granddaughter wanted to go to the toilets... Couldn't believe there was no door! And newspapers all over the floor preventing wet! The owner was strange and had to 'pop to the shop' for food she had ran out of that people... More

I had to visit after reading the reviews on here, I have to agree it sadly needs a big upgrade, and the lady who served me was a little eccentric, the cake was ok but nothing special really and the tea tasted like cheap tea bags, I did notice the property is up sale so may be worth a visit... Cash only, so be warned. Friendly proprietor, perhaps her day had been hard when we visited as she didnt seem completely with it. The coffee was OK, with added grounds in the cup....for the rustic charm I am sure. However it did go well with the cups, which from the wear and tear were original victorian! but a nice quiet... Called in here at lunch time - three tables were in use - server had given an order to the wrong table and as she passed me she said she couldn't cook anything for us as she'd had to do two breakfasts earlier and she just couldn't manage it - my husband had gone straight through to the toilet -...
