Always came here to sample the Budweiser on draught but it's no longer stocked and the alternative is far too malty. The inside could do with a bit of a refurb, staff are friendly. Great to sit in the outside area by the river in the summer.

Nice pub from the outside and not bad inside so we agreed to eat here, we ordered our dinners, 3 X fish and chips( salmon, plaice, lemon sole etc) and 1 X pie. The pub wasn't busy but took neatly 45 mins for it to arrive and all the fish and chips was all frozen, maybe it took that long... More

Called in for Sunday dinner. The only plus was that it's dog friendly. Had a bad Sunday dinner. One lamb one beef. Dinner came overflowing in gravy. Luckily we like a lot of gravy. Meat ok. Frozen Yorkshire pudding. Frozen roast pots. Carrots peas and cabbage boiled to death to the point was pure mush and lost all colour. Would... More

My family and I have stopped here a number of times over the years either for a drink or a quick bite to eat. The pub/restaurant is nothing to look at from the outside but has a wonderful beer garden overlooking the river Derwent. The decor is a bit outdated but the service and food has always been okay but... More

Spending a long weekend in November. A wet miserable few days. We were hungry and wasn't in the mood for wandering around town looking at the choices available and took a chance because the outside of the building wasn't very special. We had Sunday lunch. I had lamb and my wife beef. A customer at the bar said he had... More

Matlock bath on illuminations /fireworks nights is heaving and we got the last free table in the pub. Food was good although they had run out of burgers. Would go back and would recommend.

Very surly welcome from publican, who wouldn't advise me on his ales because, 'I don't drink that stuff.' Ok. So only had a half and some peanuts and went elsewhere for other half and more food. Upgraded review to 3* because it is, thankfully, dog-friendly - after a 6 mile walk.
