This little restaurant is remarkable excellent. It puts most restaurants to shame. A tiny kitchen produces superb food. Their breakfasts are tasty and set you up for the day. Coffee is excellent. The duck with pearl barley knocks spots off similar food produced by Michelin...More

Had a memorable afternoon tea in this delightful cafe. Had the pavlova between three of us which consisted of the largest meringue I have ever seen. Worth a visit and will definitely call again when in Helmsley.

Stopped here before walking the Cleveland Way to Rievaulx abbey and had great coffee and scones. A great start to a fabulous autumnal walk. Very friendly staff.

We recently visited here on a Sunday afternoon. It was quite busy but managed to get a table. I had the sausage roll board with pickles, not enough pickled onions for me, the chutney was very nice. My husband had the beetroot soup which he...More

We’ve been regulars in both the York and Helmsley branches over the years and the standard never drops. I’d estimate we’ve eaten with them around 50 times, and can’t think of a single bad dish or service issue. The latest visit was to Helmsley on...More

A small bistro restaurant serving high quality food by friendly staff. Other restaurants take note! There may be an endless supply of tourists but this is where the locals go.

Description
Our welcoming bistro cafés, delicatessen and bakeries in York & Helmsley, have a distinctly European feel. We fuse French and Italian cuisine seamlessly with the best that Yorkshire has to offer (and my goodness that is good!). Mannion's could be mistaken for a bustling backstreet Parisian café, if it weren't for the Yorkshire sausage rolls, English loose-leaf teas and, of course, the wonderful cakes & patisseries.
