We decided to take a drive to enjoy the first pleasant spring weekend. We'd camped in Talybont on Usk previously so wanted to visit again for the afternoon. We stopped for lunch at The White Hart. It's an old pub, with charming features including an open fire. Staff were friendly and took our food order at the bar. I've got... More

We had steak and ale pie and chips. The chips did not seem fresh, I'm pretty sure they'd been cooked earlier and were just reheated. The rather large lump of pastry on top of the dish of steak was chewy and dense, not at all like I would expect puff pastry to taste. A disappointing meal, and rather expensive for... More

We visited The White Hart in Early March, the weather was pretty bad, heavy rain, followed by lighter rain. We walked down from a cottage in Pencelli, and took the hill route (about 5 miles) it was heavy going so the White Hart was a welcome sight. Most of our party had baguettes and they were not bad, a bit... More

Recently took the good lady and our 2year old son out to country for a nice day and came upon this jemmy of a pub, friendly staff roaring fire, got chatting to Su&owain the proprietors and got on famously, the food we had was filling tasty and prompt in arrival and we all cleaned our plates, as the pub was... We stopped off here after walking along the canal.. this pub is right on the canal with a large car park. The lunchtime food was very good. Ample portions. Our food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. The young lady behind the bar was incredibly helpful and friendly and even remembered what we were drinking. Several people had muddy walking... More

The steak and ale home made pie is fantastic. Puff pastry is just that. You will be amazed. Local larger and cider is definitely worth a try. Great atmosphere and spot on friendly service.

A very nice chilled out country pub serving very good pub food and good size portions. Plenty of room between tables, nice log fire, big tv on mute unless needed (rugby match) and a good local trade making a nice atmosphere.

I am local and tried to love it time and time again. I've had a ridiculously long time to wait for food in the padt. Eg.. Over an hour then when we got it... It's soggy tasteless and boring. We just brought our friends in there for drinking on new years eve, been drinking at home and in another pub... More

Stayed in bunkhouse recently, facilities adequate but rooms were very cold & no drying facilities for kit other than a “broom” cupboard so not recommended for outdoors groups
