We so not wanted this place to disappoint us. As very frequent visitors to the area we admire Fighine. The love, care, attention and money the owners spent to restore the castle and village deserves tremendous respect. The restaurant claims to specialize in home-made Tuscan pasta with locally sourced ingredients. One could only wish. Heinz Beck has some kind of,... More

The restaurant is difficult to find and involves a drive on unpaved road, but is well worth the effort. The venue is scenic, quiet, an quite enjoyable in summer when the outside area is open. The food is creative and local. The menus are thoughtful. Service is attentive. It is excellent in all respects.

My wife and I left our village in Umbria without plans for lunch. We were headed toward San Casciano di Bagni on the backroads from Fabro when we saw the sign to Castello Fighine. We saw the restaurant sign pointer and stopped in...by chance they could accomodate us! We dined gloriously on a perfect day under an arbor. Each course... More

This little restaurant in an old medieval village in a little village is a must visit destination. The journey is delightful, less than an hour from Siena, hour and a half from Roma goes through some beautiful villages before you ascent the mountain to the Castello. You can also stay in one of the luxury villa's within the Castello as... More

We visited 5 years ago, when it was fairly new. Now it is a one-star Michelin restaurant and deservedly so. It still manages to be exquisite and specialised, without being forbidding. Every dish looks as beautiful as it tastes and there are lots of extras - the pre-dinner canapés, the pre-starters, the refresher between main course and dessert. Even the... More

We visit Ristorante Castello di Fighine every year and enjoy it every time. The food in this area of Tuscany is generally rural. Although we appreciate this type of food in the various local restaurants we regard this restaurant as a fantastic escape and possibility to enjoy a completely different level and class, both in terms of environment but largely... My husband and i went for lunch to this lovely restaurant. The place is amazing, a refurbished old castle near San Casciano dei Bagni. We booked first which I recommend even if the place was not full. If you can and weather allows, ask to have your table in the lovely terrace. We took the Tasting Menu of seven plates... More

Visited for lunch after my wife had attended the cooking class. As others have commented there is very little signage to the restaurant until you have almost arrived at the hamlet and the last 4/5 kilometres of dirt road also makes you wonder if you are going the right way. Restaurant though is only about 12 kilometres from the A1... More

First, I highly advise you to call in advance to be sure they are open at the time you want to visit and available (they cater large parties like weddings). I have visited this castle several times over the past eight years. My good friend lives in the nearby village of Palazzone (adorable by the way) so every time I... More

We have been there for a 3 course lunch: beef ravioli+lamb, lobster+sea bass and two desserts. I would recommend choosing a tasting menu instead. The food was perfectly prepared and arranged, and delicious. I especially enjoyed the lamb covered in black olives ash. The only little detail I wasn't sure about was sweet orange sauce combined with sea bass and... More

Heinz Beck Seasons at Ristorante Castello di Fighine is less than 15 minutes from the Fabro exit off the A1. The drive will not be a disappointment.

Arriving in Fighine, one is met by the beautiful and imposing 11th century Castello di Fighine, a private home which has been restored and refurbished over the past 15 years. A two minute walk from the Castello will bring you to the Ristorante Castello di Fighine.

Situated 650m above sea level it offers panoramic views over Southern Tuscany from its rose and wisteria covered terraces. It really is worth a visit.

Managed by Heinz Beck with Antonio Strammiello as head chef, the restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine but specialises in home-made Tuscan pasta with locally sourced ingredients.

It is a most beautiful place to sit and enjoy either a simple plate of fresh pasta or a gourmet/tasting menu. To accompany the food the wine list features a number of the great Super Tuscan wines as well as other locally produced wines of excellent quality.

"... And to have such a superb restaurant right opposite was my special treat. The lemon, ginger, asparagus and white prawn pasta was our family favourite. The service was so efficient, friendly and welcoming ...."
