My previous review included a grumble about a shockingly long wait for a main course and specifically that no one attempted to deal with our delay at the time. My grumble was possibly premature! On checking out this morning, I pointed out my problem to a member of the admin. team and he dealt with the situation in a very... More

Lovely character-ful Inn with glorious location in a deep Wye Valley gorge between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. An excellent choice of ales, a wide-ranging menu and what looked like great food - plenty of evidence of enjoyment judging by busy wait staff and empty plates too. Sadly I arrived at a very busy period, just as lunch booking was closing -... More

Ate here on 2nd June as a family of 5. The pub / restaurant were extremely busy and inevitably there were a few mistakes made with our orders however they were very quickly responded to and corrected and we all went away back to the tents very full & happy !

We arrived on a sunny bank holiday Saturday at 1pm - and the queue for food was snaking out the door. We were lucky to snap up a table on the patio overlooking the river. After queuing for 15mins or more to place our order, we were warned that it would be a 45min wait for food, but it arrived... More

We had booked ahead for dinner here on a bank holiday weekend. (For the restaurant, this was certainly necessary... however, they also serve food at the bar, so maybe you could get a meal without booking). The setting is glorious: one of the most scenic sections of the River Wye visible from the terrace, with the hand-pulled rope ferry, boat... More

Visited for the first time on a Bank Holiday Saturday - Symonds Yat was pretty as a picture but absolutely heaving - and didn't hold out much hope of getting a table, let alone what turned out to be great service and absolutely superb food. The fish and chips was the best I've had in many years, and the lamb... More

Ok we visited on a Bank Holiday and just managed to get a car park space, but in fairness it was staffed and they did keep things moving. (£5 a day). The pub itself is by the riverside with views of the rope ferry, numerous canoes and pleasure boats in a fabulous gorge. Pub is modern and clean with friendly... More

Never disappoints. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, great views and friendly staff. I would advise making a reservation at busy times.

Service was okay but food very questionable. There were a couple of good eats but the bad outweighed the good. The bad - Starter of Moules cooked in Cider; v.small portion barely hot and not tasty. Pulled Pork burger actually quite tasty but not hot enough. Chocolate fondant overcooked so was just a chocolate sponge. I would have complained but... More
