Yes the Engel has "atmosphere" but it just didn't do anything for me. I think people pride it on being the best restaurant in a small village on reputation only, but I just didn't understand the hype. The food was ok, the wine was good.......More
Three of us had a beautiful meal here. We started with a lovely fresh salad, pumpkin and apple soup and beef consommé. All very good. Following this we had pork medallions, slow cooked beef and fresh local fish. Again all beautifully cooked and very tasty....More
We enjoyed a very nice evening in the Engel Restaurant, sitting on the back of the house on the veranda. The food was nicely presented and very tasty and on offer were different dishes to the Flammkuchen and the rumpsteak all other restaurants in Sasbachwalden...More

Excellent food in the heartland of the BlackForest vinyards, with a variety of French and German dishes available, and a great wine list. The food is more quality than quantity, it is not served in traditional beer.weingarten style, but nevertheless scrumptious ! Enjoy a stroll...More
Had a great meal here. Started with the garlic escargots- too salty. Then the beefs cheeks- interesting with a wonderful sauce but too salty! Had the most amazing potato crochetes. Wine was average from the region. The desert was dissapointing- the black Forrest rollard!
