We weren't in Paleochora for a very long visit but it became a tradition to come to Cafe Yannis for a drink in the afternoon. Nikos was very attentive and made suggestions about places to visit in Crete. He gave us a map and pointed out highlights. Also, the drinks are very good here--whether it's a gin and tonic, beer... We've been coming here for 30 years and Yiannis has seen our children grow up. We're very fond of him, his daughter Joanna and her brother. Lovely place for a cooling drink during the day or an aperitif early evening. Always friendly and welcoming.

This is really a place to visit in the evening when the road has been closed off. Great place to sit and chill with a drink or two and watch the world go by. Lady who runs place is very friendly and Yannis himself puts in a regular appearance as does the cafe cat who likes to claim a seat... More

Great cafe/bar with very friendly and helpful staff. Relatively quiet during the day though being on the main road means it's not as peaceful as it otherwise would be. The main road closes to traffic in the evening however and this allows Yannis' Place to really shine. Tables are extended on to the road so that even during busier times... More

Yannis place is an institution in Paleo. The Greek flag emblem suits the seating and service is friendly and efficient. Joanna will help out with her extensive knowledge to the area's attractions. They all work hard to please their customers.

I wanted to watch the Man U v Leceister City footie match and the barman/or part owner helped out. He went that extra mile in trying, unsuccessfully as it turned out, to get me the English commentary! Like a lot of establishments in Paleochora, Cafe Yannis Place is a family run affair, providing good food and drinks and helpful and... More
