We had a simple but phenomenal meal here. We came for a late lunch on a quiet Friday afternoon and left happy and charmed. From the first course to the last, we left not a crumb on the plate. We ate in major cities and...towns throughout Rome and Umbria but no meal topped the one we had at this unassuming family-run trattoria.More

Traditional Umbrian food, made by Signora The Chef. Interesting and original. Nice choice of wines. Pere cotta con miele is my favorite. Also the Pollo alla Cacciatora was very good.

This past Christmas our family (2 adults and 2 teen boys) spent 13 days in Italy. We traveled from Milan to Rome and ate at some hip, highly acclaimed and coveted restaurants. We enjoyed some of the best lunches and dinners of any vacation we’ve...been on. Mind you we are “foodies” and are from Chicago with access to some of the best restaurants in the US (or world). We had the pleasure on Christmas Day of dining for lunch at Le Cerquetta in Narni. We all agreed that Le Cerquetta was one of the top two restaurants of our entire trip. Le Cerquetta is a family owned restaurant. The Mother is the Chef, the Server is her son and the sister is the Pastry Chef. The restaurant’s exterior is a fairly non-descript building that you can easily miss. This represents quite a huge contrast to the interior which appears to be an Italian Countryside home filled with memories and tradition. There is one large dining room that probably seats about 50 people. It is simple, yet elegant, inviting and warm. The table was beautifully decorated with handwritten menus (see picture), festive Christmas décor, and soft luxurious blue linens. We later learned the Server’s wife handles the décor and floral arrangements. The room is surrounded by windows that look out over the gardens and vineyard next door. There is a beautiful view of the mountains in the background. The backyard is home to the livestock used in the restaurant. The Christmas lunch menu was preset and consisted of 8 courses plus Caffe and Spumante. By the way, we have two boys with nut allergies which the Server was aware of and advised us if there were any issues (the salad and dessert). The Tortellini stuffed with Duck was out of the his world – so fresh and light. The Papparadalle with Truffles and Lemon made us realized we will never be able to eat store bought Papparadalle again. Both were perfect Al dente. The staff cares about the food and experience and they take great pride in serving the patrons. They are 100% committed to serving you and making sure your experience is like no other. Chicago may advertise restaurants as Farm to Table, but none can compare to a real Farm to Table like Le Cerquetta. This is a family-owned restaurant that is a true Farm to Table with the everything grown on the property. The only thing to keep in mind is that everything is homemade and made upon ordering versus in advance. Make sure you are not in a hurry…sit back, relax and make deep local connections.More

Just left one of the best meals I have had over 3 trips thru Italy. We got to our hotel late in the afternoon, no usual meal time, and we were sent here. It seemed almost like they were closed until a gentleman came out...and in his broken Italian explained what they had to offer. We ordered a lot of food as we were hungry from traveling all day... Nothing disappointed! From the local Umbrian wine to meats, cheeses, bruschetta, frittata, duck ragu pasta, hunters chicken and veal steak.... AMAZING!! The small outside patio is so peaceful we were shocked when we went inside to see the huge dining room. You need to plan ahead for the rotisserie meats which we are sad we missed but we left happy anyway. Don't miss this gem in the quiet countryside.More

This really is a one-off. The restaurant appears to be in the middle of a small industrial estate, but nothing takes away from the warm welcome and excellent food. All the vegetables are grown on site, and the cooking is just how your grandmother used...to do it. Which is hardly surprising when you find out the chef is 87 and the mature gentleman serving is her son! The veal was out of this world, there was a fine selection of cheese and the meal was generously rounded of by free coffee and liqueurs. Ottimo!More
