We booked a meal for 13 people (all socially distanced) at the Smithy Inn for Saturday 12th June and had spoken to Pam and her team beforehand to arrange the finer details. Wonderful experience, the food and service was absolutely brilliant. I was also very...impressed with their knowledge of the latest COVID-19 guidance and the safety measures they’ve put in place to keep staff and customers safe. Face masks, alcohol gel and signing in sheets were all in place on entry along with signed cleaning schedules which I was really impressed with (especially working in infection control!) “Well done to you all, we’ll definitely be back soon”More
Visited today, 22nd May for an evening meal. This is a lovely pub and the food was fresh, tasty and well cooked. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the young man who served us- he really made an effort to make our visit...a good one. This is also a fantastic location, just off the motorway but in a pretty village. We walk in the Lakes regularly so will definitely call in again on our way back to Manchester.More
Decided to stop here for tea on our way home. We arrived at 5pm and found a seat straight away. A lovely girl came to get our drinks order and bring us menus but it was all down hill from there. It took 15 minutes...to order our food and then over an hour for our food to arrive. When we complained we were told there was an hour and a half wait on food. We had not been told this when we ordered and had a 4 year old - if we had been told this we would have left. What was more annoying is that the couple on the next table who ordered at the same time got there food, had eaten it and paid before we even got our meals.More
We stopped here on our way to find the motorway on our way home and had a wonderful Sunday lunch of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings and one of my friends ordered the homemade steak pie which I gather was first...class all served with lots of potatoes chips and vegetables piping hot using local fresh ingredients when possible.
There is also a good range of local beers on tap and in bottles and a full bar.
one thing I will say about the pub is its location it is actually not in carnforth it is in home ma and actually on the way a nearer to milnthorpe in Cumbria but easy to find and obviously popular with both tourists and plenty of locals in the bar and restaurant on a Sunday
Lovely service and very friendly welcome and I highly recommend this pub off the beaten tracks
We went to the pub on our last night on our stay in Clawthorpe, the pub was recommended by the owner of the cottage we were staying at.
We had has a previous bad experience at a different pub earlier in the week so was a...bit unsure when we ordered.
But we didn't need to be - food was amazing / hosts and staff were friendly and helpful and felt very secure and safe.
Would deffo go again when we are next up here..More
Excellent all round in a Covid-Secure environment. We sat in the garden, in one of a number of discrete pods and enjoyed lunch and afternoon drinks. Hugely enjoyable afternoon with friendly service and even a children’s play area.
First visit to this friendly pub and restaurant with parking .
Lovely welcome and a nice range of choices on the menu , the food cane well cooked in huge portions and the fish and chips are probably the best ever eaten anywhere !
We...will be back soon .More
Great pub grub here and a really nice atmosphere. The owner (we think!) was very friendly and brought out puzzles for the kids to do. This is a down to earth pub and very relaxing place. Portions were big and everyone cleared their plates!
Popped up today with some friends that had travelled up from liverpool. This place was recommended from the manager at waters edge caravan park .it didnt disappoint. Great beer, friendly staff and tasty wholesome food . Couldn't fault anything. Well done keep it up. Will be...back. Thanks againMore
