The Winding House Tea Rooms

Ratings and reviews

Certificate of Excellence2015 - 2018 Winner

Location and contact

A delightful Victorean inspired licensed tea room with a beautiful garden terrace and glorious views over the River Severn and Low Town. Serving light lunches, morning and afternoon tea seven days a week (Please note that we only use fresh ingredients delivered daily, therefore it is always best to book at least 24hrs in advance for Afternoon Teas to avoid disappointment. Due to the unique nature and quaint charm of our property our kitchen is very small and this may cause delays during busy periods however we will make sure that it was worth the wait!! You can watch the Cliff Railway operating and see the winding house for the railway in action from the tea rooms. We offer exceptional service

Having visited the town and cliff railway we popped in for coffee and cake, another cafe that closes at 4pm a bit of a bugbear of mine, so we were a little rushed. Quaint little place unfortunately although it was a lovely warm day the...More

I'd booked afternoon tea here for myself and 2 very good friends after reading Tripadvisor reviews and we weren't disappointed. The greeting was friendly and as they knew it was a special celebration their best table with fantastic views had been reserved for us -...More

I've visited the Winding Rooms twice lately. Both times we were able to sit outside in the sunshine. The experience was added to by watching the ups and downs of the cliff railway. The cakes were spot on and I was really impressed by the...More

Visited the Winding House tea rooms for afternoon tea, received as a Christmas treat. We chose Valentine's Day and were not disappointed, so much so that we took our friends a few weeks later and they were equally impressed. On both visits we had three...More

Enjoyed having lunch here today. Staff were very polite and attentive. Great tearoom to visit, and good varied menu, as well as lovely homemade cakes and scones. Definitely worth a visit when in Bridgnorth.

Warm and welcoming with delicious food. After previous visits a few years ago I dived into here to escape the awful weather. Immediate friendly welcome, prompt service and a delicious jacket potato and a lovely pot of tea later and I'm warm, dry(ish) and comfortably...More

Rob was very accommodating and really looked after his customers. Loose tea served in China cups. Great selection of scones and cakes. The scones are huge and don't miss out on the lemon drizzle or courgette and avocado cake. Will definitely return.
