We come to Lecce for a couple of months every year, and have exhausted the centre’s culinary offerings. In search of something a little ‘off the beaten track’ we stumbled across this gorgeous place and were impressed by the reviews.
The setting is lovely - very light and airy, with spaces between the tables (I hate it when you’re all packed in!), lovely lights and a feeling of calm. The music is tasteful and now loud. The staff are kind and helpful, friendly and professional.
Now for the food… delicious! The meal started with a little ‘amuse bouche’ int he form of an arancino with beetroot sauce. I opted for the burrata, gamberi and tomato salad which was wonderfully tasteful and fresh. My partner had pasta with seafood which was al dente and flavoursome.
For mains, we had a steak tartare with bone marrow from the grill and the octopus (also grilled) with vegetables.
We are not really dessert people, but after the meal we’d had, we wanted to try everything (!) so we had a cheesecake and a semifreddo - both of which were light and fresh to end the meal. The wine was also fabulous.
All in all, an excellent find? Just outside Lecce (about 15m drive) with a lovely atmosphere, great food, and lovely staff. We will return!

Amazing experience.
I had the Christmas lunch with my family at Masseria Caronte, historical farmhouse (ancient construction typical of Salento) that hosts a fine restaurant located in the countryside of Vernole.
Great food (I particularly enjoyed the beetroots and snapper tartare risotto), perfect timing between the courses, very good service from a friendly and yet professional personnel.
Welcoming environment, relaxed atmosphere, very nice selection of wines.
Highly recommended for those who are looking for a proper experience in a beautiful and fine dining restaurant

Amazing experience
I had an excellent experience at Masseria Caronte, starting with the warm welcome, the aperitif on the beautifully arranged terrace, the exceptional service and food, the friendly staff, the impeccable service, and last but not least, the very tasty food. I thought I'd have a nice evening of well-deserved holidays (I've been a cook for 15 years) so I've seen a lot of restaurants and I know what I'm talking about.
Beautiful location, a pleasant and well-made farm, we had dinner outside the room remaining indoors, all well cared for between inside and outside.
We had booked for 21:30 for 4 people on a Saturday night.
We arrived in time we ordered a bottle of rosé (NOT the most expensive) and 2 appetizers to be shared between the two couples, tasting of bread and oil of the house. (Biblical times) Finally arrive the appetizers a bacon cooked at low temperature with puntarelle (three fine slices with cooked vegetables on top that seemed to be cabbage but certainly not puntarelle), a very simple potato pie. (Biblical times again) Finally arrive the other courses, a tortello, 2 entrecôte and the much vaunted rib at the BBQ.

Local renovated very well and tastefully decorated.

Beautiful place, classy. We stayed outside for a birthday and it was beautiful thanks to the attention to detail and excellent service. Very good ‘homemade’ bread, all excellent courses starting from the entree.
