When Alessandro Gilmozzi decided to become a chef, he worked for the best at that time: Ducasse and Adriá. Then he returned to his village in the Dolomites and opened El Molin. The big tasting menu with pairings is original and bold. Many of the ingredients in the dishes are foraged from the local forests. Every bite is an explosion... More

We ate on successive nights in the restaurant and then the wine bar which are both housed in an ancient wooden flour mill. The same kitchen services the meals in both areas. In the restaurant we sat upstairs in an intimate area with a view into the very modern kitchen. We had the tasting menu at Euro120 pp which consisted... More

We dined twice at El Molin in our 9-day stay in Cavalese. Each night the food, wine and service were wonderful. Wait staff were very knowledgeable and pleasant. Atmosphere comfortable and warm. I highly recommend El Molin.

We had a dinner there, five friends, the day before the Marcialonga cross country ski race. Unfortunately we left disappointed and hungry after paying more than 80 euros each. When we had too little food on our plates we asked them to put some more on the following dish, but they told us "the size has been decided before and... More

Dear guests, our restaurant is a gourmet restaurant which aims to offer a complete culinary tour. If you will come over again we will welcome you at the El Molin Wine Bar, exactly nearby, where the courses are more substantial. Thank you, Best regards. More

We were so lucky to actually get to squeeze in 4 persons in the very cozy restaurant, even though we only had a reservation for 2. Food was a bit experimental, but alot of nice flavours and presented very delisciously. Great wines. Great atmosphere. Great service. Would definately go back if visiting Cavalese again. The winebar was lovely. Very friendly... More

Outstanding cuisine and delightful service in quaint alpine setting. Truly fantastic and imaginatively presented dishes, we had a simply delicious loin of deer with a great local red wine, a recommendation of the charming young female sommelier. Worth staying in cavalese just to go to El Molin.

This may look like an unlikely area to have excellent pizza, but in fact they take very good care of their ingredients and their dough preparation (70 hours of rising...). Their 'caserecce' range is a little more expensive than average but the quality is very high indeed, with top ingredients: 'piennolo' tomatoes, local ricotta, and other cheeses, Cantabrico anchovies. The... More

Long gone are the days when you could not eat a decent pizza north of Rome: and the pizza at Excelsior is really and truly excellent. I am not sure whether the 70 hours of leavening are all necessary and not at all gimmicky, the slow leavened pizza is divine, with superb quality toppings like piennolo tomatoes, smoked ricotta and...
