Sitting outside on the patio with a view of the lake...priceless! The service was fine and the food fine too! Our starter salad, was goat cheese, tired lettuce, honey and bread. Great flavor... Next course I had duck in a green peppercorn sauce. Good and tender. My husband had fish and chips. He was wishing for tartar sauce...asked for lemon...they... More

I'm glad I didn't read the reviews before visiting, because we would have missed out on a wonderful meal. We must have hit the sweet spot for this place. We showed up at 8:30 on a crowded Saturday Night in La Roque-Gageac, but like magic a table had just opened up on the edge of the terrace with the best... More

Chosen because there was space available and we were hungry. The food was passable but overpriced. Staff were somewhat stretched. I'm sure that there are other places to eat, along the stretch of road, which are better value for money. However they were all full and actually, this one did what we needed it to do.

I stayed nearby at the Manoir and came here for dinner 3 nights in a row. The views are beautiful, with hot air balloons rising over the river. The menu is very typical of the region (I hope you like duck!) but the food is very good, with great wines too. Not much English is spoken here, but they are... More

We went to this restaurant on a rainy day and from the menu outside it looked promising but the meal that we had was truly awful. The starter of an omelette was passable but the main of lamb chops was inedible and very fatty. I think the cut of meat was more suited to long slow cooking and should not... More

We were hoping for a view of the river and found it on the upstairs terrace of L'Ancre d'Or. The restaurant was empty when we entered and we were greeted by very friendly staff. The waiter was very helpful. We enjoyed the lunch Menu. The duck and beef dishes were good. Desserts were enjoyable. The restaurant did get a few... More

We were so impressed with the menu board on the street, so we went up the stairs expecting a French treat. Sadly the restaurant looks 'tired' with old floral table cloths. I opted for the 'Escalope de foie gras de canard aux griottes' @ 18 Euro. Sadly the 2 slivers were presented in a over reduced sauce that had changed... More

Not the best food in the Dordogne, but the terrace has the best view! Stick to the duck or steak....

The average food is saved by the lovely views from the 1st floor terrace of this restaurant and so it is worth a lunchtime visit for this alone.

The setting is amazing if you're eating here on a summer evening: the terrace is at 1st floor level with lovely views over the Dordogne. The waiting staff seemed a little stretched although the restaurant was not especially busy. My steak (from one of the more expensive menus) had a great flavour, was blue/rare as ordered, but required extensive work... More
