We visited here in the evening for a beer and evening meal. Both were very good and the place has a very relaxed feel to it.

There are limited choices for dining at Mt. Cook and Chamois is clearly the low cost option. The food quality is reasonable. The dining hall is a large open room with a fantastic view of the mountain. However, if you are hungry and ready to eat, this is not the place for you. We waited over an hour for our... More

The food was okay - pizza greasy. Meals were big. It felt like a sports bar - very noisy & absolutely no atmosphere. Couches were appalling to sit on. Staff were friendly.

The menu for dinner for this place that our motel had looked interesting, including things like venison, but unknown to us it had been superseded to be replaced by very ordinary food - fish and chips, steak and chips etc. No service and you're even expected to clear your own table and take the plates and scraps to a point... Visited 4/01/2017 Got a main meal of chicken and mash wouldn't feed a child but light bite options were nearly twice the size and cheaper work that one out! So in my experience stick with the light bites

We ate here twice during our stay at the Hermitage. we found the food to be of good quality, portion size was good and it was good value. Always look at the specials board - it has some good alternatives to the main menu. Its a pub and its what you'd expect in a pub..........and it was warm and had... More

There are not many places available in the area. We tried the theoretical number one and were hugely dissappointed. Chamois was simple, honest food and we were happy. Nothing fancy but it does not try to be anything else.

Ended up here both evenings after two days exploring the park and more than happy with both visits! Standard pub food with cold beer on tap. Pizza was great, my partner had the gluten free base which was very good! Burger was pretty good as well. Stunning views over the mountains make this a pretty cool place to wind down.... More

This is the only option outside hermitage. We reached late and hermitage was already booked out so we went here for dinner. By the time we reached they have run out of pizza n burgers and being a veggie we were left with no choice to order Cesar salad n chips. The salad was quite ordinary. The view of the... More

This is the only dining facility in the area, outside the Hermitage. The prices are fairly reasonable ($20+ per pax) for standard fare like pizza, ribs, fish & chips. You place the order at the counter but the food is delivered to your table. The kitchen closes at 8:30pm but they are accommodating if you are just slightly off the... More
