We were looking for a nice restaurant in Sete. Chez François is where we stayed. The seafood dishes cover everything the southern coast of France can offer prepared in a traditional way.

We were told this was the best seafood in town and it lived up to its reputation. We had a great meal and our waitperson, Fatia, recommended a great wine and helped us with the French, no English, menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. My husband had been craving spaghetti and meatballs through our trip and he had spaghetti with... More

We had an amazing meal. The "miniature fried fish" unbelievable! The rose wine selection and the grilled Dorato whole fish was not only good but reasonably priced! The location on the canal is very touristy but has underground parking so close if you are just passing through. Good spot for lunch!

This Monday night Chez Francois was fully booked. A lot of restaurants in Sete are closed Monday, but not Chez Francois. I asked how they could get fresh fish on Mondays, and they answered that the fishing boats sailed out early Monday morning and came in at 4-5 p.m. so the fresh fish were ready for the restaurants. We got... More

We chose Chez Francois for lunch after a morning wander through Sete as it was full of happy looking diners and just a little bit back from the closer to the water view places a bit further along the Quai General Durand. The highlight was the grilled fish; there were three choices the day we visited (sole, loup (sea bass)... More

Very fresh seafood, especially the oysters. Reserve in advance or arrive early - the place fills up fast! I wrote a blog post about my dining experience: pourquoipasmary

It pains me to write this review. It really does. Chez Francois holds many happy memories. There are many alternative seafood restaurants in Sète but Chez Francois has been a class apart. I have eaten there for many years and it has been excellent for a very long time. Until now. Sadly, I fear, they have lost sight of what... More

We had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. You really feel that you are close to fresh fish and all kind of seafood. Their oysters are amazing, living or au gratin. All kinds of fishes and crabs. Also their fish salad is really good. There are many fish restaurants on the quay, not all of them are good . My... More
