Really excellent food, best cod fish and coco pudding ever! Very lovely owner taking care of each guest and making sure the experience is really tasty and friendly. Not expensive. Very recommended to visit, especially now it's a great way to support local business with...long tradion. A must go! 😊More

One of the best places to eat cod! If you are expecting a vast menu don't go, but if you wish cod and meat with quality then this is the place! 5*!! To repeat for sure!!

The veal was the worst ever! 95% had nothing to do with meat. No service, very limited menu [3 mains] and they still got it so wrong

A real quaint little restaurant in the middle of the hills. If you like cod this is the place for you! The portions are massive, we ordered 2 cod and were told we only needed 1, good job we listened. The food taste fantastic, the...service friendly, all in all a good meal.More

If you are a codfish lover, then this is the place to visit. Everything is absolutely perfect, starting from the apetizers, right up to the main course, ending with a fabulous desert, all with a traditional beer to go along. And last but not the...least, the owner and the staff are remarkable. A place to come again, for sure.More

We saw the name of the restaurant in our hotel and decided to try it. Iy is located in a small village, and we were the first to arrive. We were greated be Victor himself, such a nice and friendly person. Although we spoke English...and he spoke Portuguese, we managed to understand each other. We order the veal meal and it was extraordinary! We also ordered a whole bottle of wine that Victor has recommended us. Also a great success. It ia amazing to see an 80 years old person running up and down the stairs to serve customers. Really was a great pleasure, and we wish Victor good health! Try this restaurant, you will not be sorry!More

Not only the cod fish is superb, but the owner is super friendly. It was not my first visit and for sure is not going to be the last.

O Victor was one of the high points—if not THE high point—of our trip to Portugal. It’s not easy to find. Set your GPS for Largo das Antas and it’ll get you close, but you may have to ask for directions from there, since the...restaurant doesn’t really have a sign on the door—just TA award stickers (everyone in the village knows it, of course). And be sure to make a reservation by phone (my emails got no response). One of our fellow diners told us that people drive up from Lisbon just to have the cod at O Victor, and there’s a wall of celebrity photographs. We opted for grilled veal and grilled prawns, and both were terrific. We also had the best chorizo either of us has ever tasted (made locally, of course). And the leite crème had us in ecstasy. Our wait-person was incredibly sweet, and she had enough English to help us through the menu. When we ordered port with dessert, she opened a bottle and left it on the table for us. Victor himself is a charming man, even if you don’t speak a word of Portuguese. We felt like we’d discovered the real heart of Portugal here at O Victor, and the whole experience (including bottle of wine) came to 56€. I would crawl on my hands and knees from Porto to Sao Joao de Rei to be able to repeat that wonderful evening.More
