The evening in this Restaurant was one of the best during our holidays in Norway. It’s a cozy, traditional place, which is decorated nice. They cook with regional food. We ate fish, which was perfectly done. The staff was friendly and very attentive. There are not many Restaurants in town so make a reservation well ahead.

Arresten has a cozy atmosphere and good, local food. We went with a group of 14 people and the service was very good. The desserts are supposed to be awesome, that´s at least what my colleagues said:) I went back the next day and asked if I could play the guitar that was sitting in a corner. The bar tender... More

We had beer, fish soup and the rose fish. The soup was delicious and super filling and contained lots of fish and shrimp in addition to veggies. Broth had a slight curry flavor which my husband and I both found delightful. The rose fish was just awesome! Highly recommend. The decor is authentic.

Special small and intime place. We hadde "malurke" and "fiskesuppe" for dinner. Tasted exelent. Good service. The only minus, perhapes some of the personal should learn a little bit more of wine... But the place can be highly recommended.

Ordered a three course menu. Had a delicious fish soup for starter, cod and potatoes for main course and a wonderful creme brulee for dessert. The service was great and the house has an interesting story (old prison). The main course was a bit tasteless, but all in all probably the best restaurant in town.

Description
Arresten is a local restaurant with a completely unique atmosphere in Andenes, situated way above the arctic circle in Northern Norway. Arresten is actually the old jail in Andenes, restored with much love, as well as a lot of the original features intact. Everywhere you look you'll see bits and pieces from old times on shelves, covering the walls and dangling from the ceiling. You can sit in one of the original cells, or in front of the fireplace and have a wonderful candlelight dinner prepared with fresh fish from the fjord right outside, order from our extensive beer menu and enjoy our delicious home made dessert such as our own cloud-berry Creme Brulee, gorgeous pies, chocolate temptations and much, much more. We specialize in local fish, seafood meat, beef, lamb and as much as we possibly can, everything we serve is as genuine, and as locally produced as possible. We make, create and produce everything ourselves without shortcuts. This of course includes baking our own bread, cakes, cookies, pies and desserts. We only use real butter, lots of cream and...With every breath we take we put our heart and soul into every single plate we serve. Come by, stay a while, eat, drink, live, love and laugh... Fall in love with Arresten just as we have!
