Anytime we dine

My husband and I have dined here a lot as we are always impressed by the service, size of the portions and the price. I am not a picky or fussy eater, but he sure is and he loves this restaurant. We try to vary our choices so as to try more of their delicious menu items and are never disappointed. I never seem to finish my meal not matter what I order, so I am really getting 2 meals for one great price which is awesome. We would highly recommend!

I recently moved from Whitby to Lindsay. Was pleased to find out Lindsay has a Symposium restaurant. I would go to the Ajax location from time to time and liked their large menu, good-sized portions, quality/taste of the food. The Lindsay location did not disappoint. My BF ordered the Portuguese chicken with roast potatoes and vegetables and it was GREAT. I ordered the Butter chicken with naan and rice and it was excellent! Perfect amount of spice! We started off with the flatbread with grilled veggies, goat cheese and balsamic, and the taste of that was absolutely fantastic. My only complaint was that the flatbread was soggy by the time we drove home from picking it up. Which is a fault of covid and having to do take-out. I'm sure if it were brought fresh to our table it would have still been crispy/dry and not sopping wet. I would absolutely recommend this place and will definitely be ordering from them again and again. Very pleased with the portions and quality of taste. Well done! :)

A decent lunch

Two for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Prompt friendly service in pleasant surroundings. Pre-formed Burger patty with salad and a veggie omelette, a coffee and an iced tea. We found it a bit pricey at almost 48 bucks with the tip. There are better places in Lindsay.

Went there on the 22 June 2021 at lunch on outdoor patio even though it was cool day I ordered the symposium burger with 2 pattys but when it came it only had one which I noticed after taking a bite. I asked the waitress and she said yes i put the order in for a double and she asked if I wanted the double burger and she we went and reordered. I decided to eat salad that came with it while waiting . It took at least 10 minutes for the waitress to return with the extra patty not a new burger as thats how she was trained. I spoke to manager and she thought everything was fine the way it was handled and when I said I wasn’t paying for it she advised she was only going to charge for single. To make matters worse it was a terrible burger certainly ot all beef not sure what it was made from .I won’t be returning to the resturant and suggest you find a better chice as well..

Completely messed up take out, and didn’t seem to care to correct it. We had a Christmas party and chose to order here. We ordered the day before for a timed pick up. When we arrived, the kitchen didn’t even have the order to prepare. It took another 45 minutes. Then it was mostly wrong anyways! For example, I ordered salmon (over cooked) and Mediterranean salad. I got salmon and rice / sweet potato fries. Not to mentioned, it was all mixed together in a big mushy pile. Their attitude is “just be lucky to get what we give you, but still pay for what you actually ordered.” Supporting business’ is important but respect goes both ways!

Pick up Take out for the Cottage- one stop shopping beside LCBO

Went up to friend's cottage on Sturgeon Lake, took a half day and had no time to make food because we had to get on the highway before the long weekend traffic jam. Of course everyone was starving. Google LCBO in Lindsay and saw Symposium in same parking lot. We go to Symposium Thornhill regularly so knew we could call for take out. Called ahead to arrange pick up time and while my better half got adult refreshments, I pick up Chicken Parm meal, salmon salad, two burgers and wings to share. packaged carefully as usual and if the environment is important to you, the individual food containers are compostable. Kids loved the burgers especially this time with sweet potato fries. Couldn't eat the chicken parm noodles too easily in the car just ate the chicken and left the noodles for late night snack. also brought two pieces of carrot cake as a gift to our hosts. Food was delicious and packaged carefully so no in car disasters. Very pleasant staff- nice patio if you have the time to stop.

was unbelievably poor. The worst I’ve ever experienced. I had been there one previous time at lunchtime out on the patio and it seemed OK. Our friends suggested that they wanted to try it for dinner. Happily the food was better than the service, but really just OK. The restaurant was not busy when we got there at 5:00 PM, so we were before any kind of dinner rush. The girl at the door asked us if we wanted a booth or a table and we said a table and then she brought us to a booth. No big deal.. But just funny because she just asked and then started walking with us and took us to the wrong place. She left us menus and pointed to a blonde waitress that she said would be over in a minute. Our waitress didn’t come near us for about 10 minutes and then took a drink order, out of which she only brought 3 out of 4 of our drinks. So we asked for my husbands pop again. And then she was completely missing from the floor for about another 10 or 15 minutes. We asked the the girl who seated us if someone was going to take our order. Because new people had sat down and she had taken their order. The girl we asked looked at us blankly and just told us, the waitress would be there soon. She never made any attempt to let her know we were looking for her. Finally, “our waitress” came out from the back room and served us. No mention of the delay or anything, which was obvious in an empty restaurant. We placed our order and asked for my husband‘s pop again. Then when she brought us dinner, she walked away very quickly and we had to flag her down to ask her a third time for his pop. Again, the restaurant was not busy and the girl was not even the least apologetic, after making us flag her down to ask her a third time. Of course, It’s ok to forget something… But forgetting three times is a little scary lol. We then waited forever for the table to be cleaned up and for the Bill to be brought. There was never any real friendliness. I wouldn’t say she was rude, but she was certainly not friendly or inviting…I’m quite sure this will be our last time to the restaurant. Our friends were disappointed because they were looking forward to trying it . We managed to have a nice visit with our friends but as far as the restaurant goes , It was just a disappointing visit all the way around

From the moment we got there the greeter was rude and abrupt. She told us to seat our selves and gave us the menu. We waited for someone to come to take our order. She brought us water then didn't come back for 10 minutes. She was training another lady who was lovely, We order the spinach dip - It had shredded carrots and was warm - the pitas were delicious. The salads were both mildly tasteless and she gave my daughter ranch salad dressing on the side for the Cobb salad. The salmon on mine was delicious but the salad was bland with raw mushrooms . Very disappointed for the excessive price and 2 ice tea. Will not be back .

Cakes slices are tiny now

I have been to this location more dozens of times since it first opened. The food here is always very good. Don’t think I’ve had a bad dish. I just went there again today and was totally disappointed. It wasn’t from the actual food, but how small the portions are getting. For the price I should be leaving full. I’ve been noticing my breakfast has been getting smaller each time I go, but now the mains are shrinking. That’s still not the worst part.... they have some really good cakes and at 25$ for two slices they were minuscule. I used to rave about the cakes to everyone. I’d buy a slice of humming bird and have it in two sittings because it was huge. The slice I got today was so small it turned me off getting cakes there ever again.

I was greeted and seated right away. The waitress was very friendly. I ordered a glass of wine and she brought the wine menu to me. My friend showed up and was served right away as well. The menu is extensive. The waitress helped with a couple of suggestions. It took a few minutes to make up our my minds and the waitress could see that when we were ready to order, came over right away. She was very attentive throughout our meal. Food was very good. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the burger was made in house. Very juicy.

It used to be a good place to eat

In previous years the Symposium was a great place to have lunch or dinner. My husband and I were there on Nov 6/22 and we were disappointed with both the service and the food. It was not a busy day at all. The waitress didn't seem too interested in getting us drinks, when ours sat empty for quite a while. The maitre'd recognized that we were trying to get our waitress' attention, and she asked her to give us some attention. We had to wait a long time to get our bill as well. The food was disappointing. I ordered fish tacos, and my husband ordered fish and chips. Not at all what you'd expect for the price. With dining out getting more expensive all the time, we won't be back to this place.

Great place to eat

Omg, if you haven’t tried this place, don’t waste anymore time, get in there. They have the best breakfast by far in Lindsay. Fresh, fresh, fresh. The servers are so friendly and remember your favourites and have fresh hot coffee waiting your arrival. Roxy and Michelle are always very pleasant and give your day a positive quick start. This place is always spotless and you can feel very safe eating here.

No Service, No Food, No Good

We were seated quickly … and that’s where the service ended. We waited for almost 20 minutes with our one year old child and no one even acknowledged us or took our order. We eventually left without anyone even noticing. Pretty sad customer service, would not recommend for families or anyone who values their time.

We had only been to this restaurant once before and decided to give it another try. After we were seated, we sat about 15 mins before being offered coffee. The waitress came finally and we ordered, and that’s when we got our coffee order in. Took another 15 mins to brew decaff. Our coffee came at the same time as lunch. The menu wasn’t that varied and the prices were high. Food was actually good, fish and chips and a chicken club. Due to COVID we entered with masks and took them off at the table. Meanwhile the manager was walking around without one, packing take-out without one. When I questioned him he said he wasn’t close to anyone! He also said it was harder to breathe. A guest also went to the bathroom without her mask. Not acceptable during this climate. Felt very uncomfortable. Won’t be back.

went here for a couple drinks and some apps with a group of girlfriends. Walking up to the door there were no mask signs which made us very confused, there was a typed letter on the door very small and wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing once I got threw the door. We walked in no one was there to greet us, there was no hand sanitizer to use and could not see any located in the entire restaurant. The server came over to our table after we sat our selves. She was very nice wearing a mask.. but there was nothing about the rules of wearing a mask.. do I take it of when i'm sitting ? Do I have to wear it to the bathroom?.. We felt very uncomfortable. I wasn't sure what the rules were as one of the servers/ host (she got the door a few times while we were there) was not wearing a mask. Yes we should stay home if we have big concerns about Covid..I just expected to be informed of how restaurants are running with all of this going on in the world but I got nothing.
