Having been here many, many times, we were gutted 3 years ago when the place closed. About 2 years ago it reopened, under new management, a catering company. If you are going by old guidebooks (like Fred Plotkin's Italy for teh Gourmet Traveller) you should be aware of this change. Ranucci still has teh best view in town- the terrace... More

We have visited Tuscania twice in the past on our way up to Saturnia from Rome. On those prior visits we very much enjoyed dining at Palazzo Ranucci, a restaurant which local people told us was the best in town. On this last visit we learned that the old restaurant in Palazzo Ranucci closed several years ago, and was reopened... More

My study abroad experience was summed up perfectly by the meal and companions, when we visited this restaurant. We sat on the top terrace and were treated to a perfect May evening. The view from our table was the old ruins and San Pietro in the background. It was as if everything we had come to see and love, was... More

Up the stairs from the unassuming entrance lies a large terrace perfect for outdoor dining. From your table you'll be able to see Monte Fiascone, Viterbo and the Ciminis while eating some good local cuisine. One reviewer suggested that they should turn the radio off, and perhaps they listened because the speakers were now streaming bossa nova and easy listening... More

It's my American's assumption that a reasonably-priced restaurant with a fantastic view will have mediocre food--but that's not a safe assumption in Italy! This place is one we will return to when guests visit, because the menu and the view together will make a memorable experience. Our antipasti were exceptional. There is an inexpensive grill option with many variations to... More

As others have written the summer terrace overlooking the old town is quite beautiful and cool on hot summer evenings. Staff are friendly although they could turn the radio off, it provides background noise but is not pleasant. Food is well prepared and while the menu is limited it contains fish, meat and vegetarian menus. Service is quick. The wine... More

Beautiful atmosphere on the rooftop terrace. Menu not very extensive and very expensive for the area. My wife and I shared a starter, a plate of pasta each (which was a very small serving), and we shared a tagliata which was reasonable well cooked. We also shared a desert and a bottle of local red. €70 in total. I suppose... More

Palazzo Ranucci pleasantly impressed from the start; we came in around 7:30 pm, when it was nearly empty, so we got the best table; in about an hour and a half, the whole place was full, and the dinner proceeded in a marvelous enlivened atmosphere. The menu is quite extensive, and not too expensive. The wine was suggested by our... More

I have been here 6 or 7 times in the last 12 months to use the restaurant. I wrote an earlier review a year ago but am just writing to say that the restaurant is outstanding. Every meal has been a delight, and the staff is always really helpful, especially with or young child (they have great high chairs). The... More
