This restaurant is located near a campsite. BUT don’t make the mistake of thinking of it as a campsite restaurant because it is far from that. This is top draw food exquisitely prepared and cooked and worthy of a Michelin star !! We would happily return. We sampled the Scallops, Tuna and Steak, the crème brûlée, poached pears and cheese.
The service, ambience and staff were fabulous and made our night. We are already planning to return soon.

This restaurant, with two resident chefs, is the most significant restaurant in the area. Forget it's part of a camp-site, this is serious cuisine. The locals use it for their important family, social and national events. The menu does not overwhelm with choice, which means that service can be very efficient, and there is little food waste, keeping prices ery reasonable.

Fabulous meal!!! Very very good food, very friendly service
Please please do not be put off with the restaurant location. This was simply one of the best meals we have had. The food was extremely well presented and fabulously balanced in flavour with nice local wines.

Served a ‘beef fillet’ which WAS NOT a fillet of beef. It was possibly rump steak at best. Very tough and difficult to chew. Advised waiter accordingly. He went to consult the Scottish chef and returned to ask what cut of meat I thought it was. I told him it might have been, at best, rump steak. Shortly afterwards the ‘chef’ came to the table and asked who thought the f****ing fillet was rump steak!!!
The waiter apologised profusely. Poor guy. Having calmed down the ‘chef’ he offered us alternative dishes.
The scallops were not caramalised and bland. The rice with the fish was cold. The mushroom soup tasted like dishwater etc.etc. The rabbit confit was bland, boring and totally forgettable.
When the bill was presented the refused, returned ’beef fillets’ were still on the bill, along with the replacement trout dishes and had to be removed!
N E V E R. A G A I N. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

We took the 3 course menu. The starter was already a disappointment. The promised langoustines turned out to be large pink shrimps, the intestinal tract of which had not been removed 😞 the scallops were perfectly cooked, but the accompanying pea sauce was cold. The main course: the rack of lamb was not well cooked and was difficult to cut. The filet de boeuf was tasty. But the side dishes were minimal. Dessert okay. Price/quality certainly not okay. In short, not worth repeating

It was an unexpected positive experience. The restaurant is situated next to a camping site, but the service was very competent and the food was well prepared and delicious.

We camped onsite and ate here most nights. The food was lovingly prepared and tasted amazing. We especially loved the beef bourguignon and the ham slow cooked in a Chablis and tomato sauce it was divine. The food is all freshly cooked and it showed. They do a lunchtime menu du jour which is very popular with cyclists using the canal route and local tourists. If your in the area this is a must try.

The owner of the site is clearly in love with France and with food and with wine and the region. Not sure which he loves more - lucky for you the restaurant is a passion and the food that emerged from the kitchen was first rate and served without fuss. The wine list is local and hand chosen by the owner, not overpriced but in no way lacking in quality. If it was in my high street, we'd be weekly residents, it's that good.

We stopped here for lunch after looking around Merry-sur-Yonne. The only food on offer was pizza or burgers but we were happy with that. The Burgers were lovely and the service friendly and quick.Very enjoyable and the campsite looked a good one too!

We spent the first week of July at Camping Merry-sur-Yonne and ate at Le Saussois three different evenings. Zac and crew really know how to make you enjoy your meal. The pizzas were some of the best that I have eaten.

Incredibly welcoming owners, who care about people and service. Excellent food made by the Michelin trained Chef at excellent prices. A "MUST" eating in the area where eating options are early non-existent. It is supremely lucky to have such a good option, even if the choices in the area were many. Don't miss this spot and make sure you have reservations. Often they are fully booked by both french and foreign travellers.

When the French eat at a restaurant you know it has to be good! We enjoyed the food and my husband tried Escargots as a starter one evening. It was a first for him and he enjoyed them. I chose one of their individual quiches which was so tasty. The Creme Brûlée was to die for. Had one two nights running. The restaurant/bar was welcoming and quirky , a very relaxing area with an eclectic collection art work. The restaurant is named after the cliffs close by on the banks of the River Yonne. Watch out for climbers and ab sailers . Respect.
Carry on with the good work Zak and David.
