We were very well received and, subsequently, very well served by Joanie. She was attentive, efficient and cheerful. At the time we went there (7:30 p.m.) we had no wait at reception and a light wait for the service. The chef's proposal, thin crust pizza with shrimp, was excellent and the lobster club sandwich was good and generous in lobster.

I am a regular at the Matelot restaurant and I couldn't wait to try the lobster captain. Phew, what a disappointment... beautiful place, very well decorated inside with lobster cages and nets, the food :( my husband had a shrimp poutine which he loved, but I had a lobster and potato oven pr $33.96 no salad nothing but a cold lobster with cold garlic oil, not even butter just untasty oil 1st and last time at this place. go back to my other restaurant which is quite cheaper and of better quality

Wow! We went there with my family and we were very suprised by the great mood in the place. All the meals were delicious but my lobster poutine was a highlight for us. The service by the waitress was also very friendly. Really nice place for seafood lovers in Sainte-Flavie!

I went to this restaurant for dinner last Saturday. Every year I made it a point to go there. I have noticed a negative change in service since there was a change of ownership a few years ago. When we showed up at the restaurant I was very disappointed to find that we would not be seated on a window sill but I was aware that this could happen. However, I observed that there was a section closed due to not having a sufficient number of customers. I was surprised to see in this section that there were unoccupied tables on the edge of the windows. We traveled 320 km to get to this restaurant and return along the river. For the first time in my life, I received a glass of white wine at room temperature. After exchanging it for a beer, the waitress told me that the cellar was defective. However, the refrigerator for storing food could have temporarily served as a storeroom.
Our lobster starters were good. The contents of the two plates of fish and chips were very dark (chips almost burnt) and my lobster club sandwich plate was cold. It was obvious that the dishes had not been synchronized so that they were ready at the same time. We also had to ask for knives during the meal (there were only forks on our table). Their services are appalling, regarding the waitresses and besides their captain's plate at $105 is not even available because they run out of mussels. They don't even want to replace them with anything else or make the plate without mold. I was just coming for this plate and there were 4 people taking this plate plus wine and starter and aperitif. I asked the waitress to go see the manager and see what he could do and she said there was nothing he could do. So we're gone. They just lost a bill of more than $700 and 4 unhappy customers.

At the end of the 2023 tourist season, we went to have an evening meal in this very beautiful and very good restaurant specializing in dishes based on fish and seafood, including obviously the popular lobster. We were not disappointed when we opted for the fish meal soup (shrimp, salmon, cod, mussels, scallops, crab fingers) served with a bowl of rice. Excellent service. Very beautiful view of the St. Lawrence River from the very windowed dining room. Nice atmosphere.

I held back from enjoying in public with each bite of my starter, my main meal as well as my dessert. I think, no joke, at 33 years old, I have never eaten anything so good. I am a fan of seafood and fish; everything was fresh, personalized, the service was good. Really, thank you!

The decore in this place is outstanding and service was fast and the young (Kelly Roy) was exceptional. But I can honestly say this is one of the worst meals I have had in a long time..My steak was so small I would say the size of a plum witch cost 34.00 ..I could not cut it with the steak knife nor could I chew it and I asked for medium ..It came with about 15 fries and a very small salad ...
When they give you the menu beside each meal is a price but that is not the price you are charged...If you do drop in make it a point to ask the price of the meal you are ordering because let me tell you when you receive your bill you are in for a shock...Would I return ( nope )

The welcome was a little cold, but once we sat by a window, the majestic view of the river made us forget it. The waitress was very kind. We ate squid and shrimp crushes with spicy mayos and a salad and it was delicious. A mandatory stop for good food, view and decor!

We enjoyed our lobster thermidor meal last year but what a disappointment this year! We chose the seafood stew. It looked like a defrosted soup with a pastry on top. I don't know what kind of crab this dish was made from but it looked more like poor quality pollock. The salad was tired. Fortunately the fries were successful...

For many, a trip through Sainte-Flavie at the entrance to Gaspésie must include a stop at Capitaine Homard. For us, it was a first, and we didn’t regret it! We had to wait at check-in to get a seat, but this is really mitigated by the fact that they don't make us wait in line in the restaurant door. We give our name and cell number and they call us in turn. What a good idea! This allowed us to take the opportunity to take a short walk on the beach behind the restaurant and have a drink on their terrace facing the river before getting our place. We were told there would be a 30 to 45 minute wait, but it took 40.
Once at the table, the service was impeccable, everything we ate was excellent and the atmosphere was really great. The fisherman's boat and seaside decoration is rather busy, but it works.
To do again during our next visit!

The restro seemed a popular place in the region, after waiting for sometime, we finally got a spot in the restaurant. WE were led to a room with two long tables that each can accommodate around 10 people. But once everybody sat, the distance between my seat and the person sitting along the the long table is around 1 foot. And then those kids started to yell and shout on the top of their lungs and the whole room was filled with noise. If one of the kids had corvid, then everyone who dined in the room would get it. There was no window open to outside, the air was not circulating. It was when we decided to step out did they agreed to change us to another seat in another room. The drinks tastes like water, coleslaw tasted rotten. Never will go to that restaurant again. The Quebec government should send people to check the arrangement of the restro and cancel their license to operate.
