When you enter this restaurant you will find it not very orderly. There are chandeliers hanging from the roof, old coal stoves standing on the floor boxes and bits and pieces of everything and anything all around the shop. Even books for sale as well as a neat cheese shop and wines for sale. The meal we had was very... More

We are stopping at Dassiesfontein for the last 20 years but the food quality is declining. Expensive and untasty. I think they have lost their mojo.

A good place to stop over for brekkie en route when on the N2. Friendly, quick service and tasty food in a rustic setting. Blikborde and all. You won't be bored either, as they are over stocked with hundreds of gifts and home type items. Great for anyone looking for a chandelier or a craft beer...which incidentally were cheaper than... A MUST stop for a wonderful experience of collections so wide and diverse, you can't help finding something to take home! Eat, play and look your heart out - this a the most amazing padstal driven by a passion for beautiful things you might never find else where.

This place will keep you busy. Very busy. It is a pandoras box of little interresting things with some eclectic touches. Do yourself a favour and stay for lunch. If I can recomend anything in particular....well....anything on the black board. Just a word of advice....come hungry. The food is not gourmet...but simple food done exceptionally well.

Dassiesfontein is famour for their home-made pies. I had a chicken and a steak and kidney pie - and trust me it is worth stopping here for a pie! Also friendly service.

We have not eaten here but it is an Aladdin's cave of what some would call rubbish and some would call fascinating. It reminds me of a place near Gutu in Zimbabwe called McCarty's which was stacked high with almost everything you could imagine. The only difference is that Mr McCarty knew where everything was, here the staff seem to... More

In the middle of the Bot River area we came across a store, the like of which I have never experienced before! Here you can buy anything from a cast iron range to rubber boots and chutney! It's a day out - an explorer's joy - an Alladin's Cave! But I'm afraid that I would not recommend the restaurant as... More

Rude staff. Asked where the bathrooms are and without lifting her head, the lady flapped her arm in that direction. Nice first impression. NOT. Very expensive but apparently that is how farm-stalls milk the tourists and that's why this local will not support. Wanted to buy pies and freshly baked bread but without an apologizing smile I was barked the... More

Stopped for lunch . Disgusting oil drenched food ! Miserable service ! Disgusting filthy place ! Maybe you should add various cleaning products to you massive amount of rubbish !Is there no working Health and Safety or Food Hygiene body that inspects these premises and makes them aware that you cannot mix food with filth . This place should be... More
