We were staying over in Coucy le chateau affrique on the way home from the alps. This restaurant was the perfect way to end our holiday. Traditional french food that is cooked perfectly. Amazing choice of wines by the glass and while my french is...not great and the waiters English was of a similar standard they were extremely patient with us and very attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we’ll be back next year!More

Ate dinner in the restaurant on a Thursday evening. Service was slow. Food was OK at the time (brevette lamb cooked rose). A few hours later I started having an upset stomach. I hadn't eaten elsewhere since a baguette at lunchtime so I know where...I blame. I won't be going back.More

Yet again a superb dinner was had here. We turned up at 7pm and the staff was just finishing their dinner which is always nice to see. We just had a a la carte main couse each; entrecôte of veal and sautéed kidneys and one...dessert which involved a lot of chocolate. The service is always top, ambience lovely and just a fabulous place to spend Saturday night and we only had to tumble upstairs afterwards.More

Nicely presented, good tasting food at a reasonable price, went to bed satisfied. Good straight forward wine.

We were advised by the owners of our B&B ( chez Ric &Fer) to have our meal at this place, nearby, excellent food and value for money! We two enjoyed a very nice dinner: menu gourmand, had a beer, half a liter of red wine,...three coffees and spend €75.More

We had a very good meal for such a small town. The menu offered a great choice and we enjoyed all our three courses very much. The house red was excellent value. It was so good to be able to eat outside but with a...big sunshade over us giving shade on a very, very hot day.More

Staying in Coucy le Chateau Augfrique for 3 days, there is not a huge choice of eating places. Having stayed here previously in a couple of really good B&B places, I have usually used the pizza cafe on the main square and always had good...service and reasonable food at a fair price. On this stay, I ate at the pizza cafe on the first night but they closed that evening for a weeks holiday. So I tried the Bell Vue restaurant ( no other close choices). Now I know why the pizza place was recommended by the B&B's. The food is very good and the prices reasonable even though it is in a tourist spot with a bit of a monopoly. I couldn't fault the choices or the standard but the service was abysmal. I have now read a couple of reviews and can confirm that the restaurant service staff are in serious need of some customer service training. Surly and grudging just about covers it but that could be just for the English customers. I speak reasonable French but, where I lacked, there was no assistance offered, only derision. French customers appeared to be served quicker and far more efficiently but maybe I am being a tad paranoid due to Brexit. Maybe they are not comfortable with serving mon- French speaking customers. I don't know but the service experience is not good. The food, however, is good. I recommend the Medieval Brochettes. Tasty and loads of it. Would I go back again? Yes. Now that I am aware of the standard of service, in the long run, it's worth it. Just be patient and be prepared for poor service.More

The restaurant was fully booked but the weather was fine and we ate in the garden (probably better for the kids that way). Food was very good. I had lamb which was delicious. The rest of the family had salmon which was also very good....Cafe Gourmand worth a try. Service was excellent. Recommended.More

Seven of us had an vening meal here. Overall, very hit and miss. The steaks were tough and tasteless. Chicken was dry. Pork was undercooked. However, the desserts were sublime!

We were delighted to come unexpectedly on this dramatically sited village, with the remains of the 14thC walls. Very few people around on a Monday lunchtime in March. The Hotel Belle Vue, close to the remains of the Porte de Laon, has an attractive dining...room. And a competitive 2 course lunch menu for about 12.00€. Friendly service. But the food was a bit disappointing. My wife had goat's cheese salad, not very interesting. I had cuisse de pintard with some rather obviously reheated vegetables (carrots, brussel sprouts, potato). The pudding was pink and tasted vaguely of raspberries. We drank a small pichet of house rosé. And two coffees. The bill was a very reasonable 29,80€. And the owner told us how to find the Emplacement de Grosse Berthe (behind the Maison de Bois).More
