We were driving through the countryside when lunch time arrived, so we pulled out our standard, the Michelin Red Guide to see where we could find restaurants near us. Thus we found Charleville-Mezieres, which we never had heard of. It is a charming little city...More

In a modest setting this restaurant offers excellent quality. Menus start at two courses (€ 27, with accompanying wines € 11 additional) and can be further extended. The cuisine is inventive with ingredients and flavors. Staff is professional and friendly.

A good restaurant even if quite expensive. Main dishes were good. Dessert was nice for eyes but not significant for taste.

Greeted by a young and energetic staff who worked hard to make our dinning experience as good as the food. The food exceeded our expectations 3 courses of creative quality. It is not cheap and the setting could be better, but you won't be disappointed.

The end of the Trans Ardennes cycle path and we deserved a treat meal. La Clef des Champs looked promising. A well appointed dining room upstairs is warm in a classic style. Tables are smartly dressed with good linen, and quality glasses. We opted for...More

Description
La Clef des Champs. We cater for intimate, family and business meals. A seminar room is also available for meetings...The rue du Moulin connects Ducale square with the Arthur Rimbaud museum. It is situated in the heart of the principality founded by Charles de Gonzague, the then Duke of Mantoue and Governor of Champagne region. In 1608, in all modesty he gave his namesake to the new town: Charleville. Each house bore the name of the town which had financed its building: Rheims, Sainte-Ménéhould, Langres, Suippes, Rethel, Mouzon, Mézières... A personal plate on the Sainte-Ménehould house, celebrates the restoration of the building in 1830.It is in this building, located 33 rue du Moulin, at the heart of this historical town, that Christophe and Geraldine Melin opened ... 'La Clef des Champs'.
