The food was excellent and the service superb. They were very patient with our bumbling French. The dining room is small and cozy, but still elegant. There's an outdoor patio, but it was a bit too chilly to sit outside. We had 3 courses (including a fantastic dessert), plus wine for 2, and the check came to less than €70.

The restaurant on Monday eveneing was not full. The service was not really interested when we ordered only the cheaper wines from their list. They have a lot of expensive wines (more than 50 € the bottle), however, the resonable priced ones which every wine producer offers (e.g. a standard Viognier - vins du pays) were not on the list.... A lovely location for al fresco dining. There was an attractive choice of dishes, all of which were beautifully presented. The standard of cooking and ingredients was very high and service was friendly and efficient. Prices were relatively reasonable. We would love to have the chance to go back.

I have visited a couple of times now, both times for lunch. Low key, casual spot popular with the local vignerons. Food is very good and the wine list is very fairly priced and full of gems.

Stopped by LeChaudron for lunch during a holiday stay in the region. Charming environment, friendly service and an interesting menu gave us the impression of a well-run, typically French restaurant. We were not disappointed. The dishes were simple, straightforward and well-executed and the service was friendly and welcoming. A lovely place to enjoy lunch in the Ardeche.

We've all been to local French restaurants that on the face of them get you excited that you will experience high quality local produce only to be let down by the poor service and fear that your lack of fluency in French it's personally insulting the proprietor...Le Chaudron bucked the trend! From the moment we walked in we were treated... More

we came to this place with no big expectation and came out with a 32-smile even past the bill (that came 60e/each including two courses and two bottles -one was a Jaboulet croze hermitage 2003-), the food is true to the bone and the service truly French: as it should. We like when a place gives you that home finesse feeling... We have reluctantly sold our French property and on the way back to the UK could not resist a final lunch-stop at this excellent restaurant. Value, quality and service is still as good as ever - we cannot understand the few negative reviews. Highly recommended and we wish the proprietors well in the future.

We have been using this restaurant for several years on journeys to and from our apartment in Provence. I do not understand how anyone can rate it less than excellent. The plat du marche menu at only 14.50 euros gives some nibbles, a generous main with side salad and a glass of first rate St Joseph wine. For an additional... More
