We have just spent a great week in a cottage in Welcombe and The Old Smithy Inn was on our door step. From the moment we walked in we knew we had found a gem ! This pub is fabulous - the owners have done an amazing job of the unique decor and all the staff are friendly and welcoming... More

We have been using the 'Smithy' for years it is a unique pub run by the lovely Rich & Jen. 70's kitsch decor great pub food, booking advisable in season.... regular folk, rock and funk gigs, they host a brilliant Beer festival in the summer and a terrific again quirky pub quiz.

Good food, friendly staff, and charming atmosphere. A place for families and young people alike. Also good music on many occasions, which adds to the atmosphere. Food is locally sourced and good quality. What more could you want?

Once you find this little gem in the wilderness, you'll be taken back to the 70s with the retro decor. Once inside it also feels like you are in a friend's front room, that just happens to have a well stocked bar and a chef out the back! There was plenty of parking and it appeared to have a lovely... Strangers to the area and on our way to Clovelly we found the Old Smithy via TripAdvisor. We wanted Sunday lunch and after several tries at phoning finally got through and made a booking for a late meal. We drove up from Bude and after turning off the main A39 we thought this is getting abit rural and having seen... More

What a fantastic place, decked out in 70's "stuff" and nine ciders on tap. Popped in for a pint and bite after walking some of the coastal path and I wasn't disappointed. Highly recommended.

We have been visiting the Old Smithy for many years on holiday. The decor straight from the 70's is an eclectic mix of kitchen accessories and unusual pictures. As for the food, it has always been served to a consistently high standard. We went on Friday which is Pie and a pint night for £10. There were a choice of... More

This pub/restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of our holiday cottage and we were not dissapointed. We visited at probably one of the most offpeak times, but everything was available, well presented, hot and in good time. The pub itself is very querky, interesting and full off history, with bits & pieces of interest scattered around. The young... More

This pub is fascinating; it is in the middle of nowhere but worth seeking out. The décor is pretty odd for a pub which must be centuries old: an eclectic mix of kitchen bits and 1970s domestic kitsch. The pub was very busy indeed on our visit mid-week so something was obviously appealing about it. The food was varied and... More
