We sat in a beautiful courtyard. The atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant is located in the lovely historical old town. It is a family run business also offering B&B at the premises. People were leaving, arriving through our tables saying ciao, bonappetito to us. Seafood spaghetti was the best seafood dish I have ever had. Vegie starter of aubergine and... More

This place is a true jewel that part of me doesn't want to share with you all. However I owe it to the hospitality of Gio and Aldo, the owners, to tell you how amazing this restaurant is. We only stayed in Mazara for 2 nights and ate here both nights. I would happily dine here every night of the... More

Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful lunch in a charming restaurant which served delicious food and offered great hospitality. Although it was a hot day the semi open restaurant area, with covered area, ceiling fans and cool surfaces offered wonderful respite from the heat of the town.First course was seasonal mixed vegetables, grilled and served with olive oil, followed by the... We usually steer away from restaurants with lots of English menu translations out front -- but thankfully we made an exception for La Tavernetta. It is a lovely restaurant, with a covered courtyard area between two houses (a common Mazara arrangement). It has a great owner/host, Aldo, who is very friendly and helpful (admittedly speaking some Italian helps). All the... More

Had lunch/dinner here 6 times during May,2015. All meals were excellent, will tell you about one. We started with soup a de mussels and clams. A huge pile of them in broth that caused us to almost finish a basket of olive bread but we had ordered a second dish. Next we shared a plate of spaghetti con micci (sea urchin)... More

We just had dinner at la tavernetta Di gio after a day in town and we loved it! The atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful, romantic. The owner is really nice, he makes you feel very welcome, shaking your hand when you come inside. He doesnt speak english, but his daughter does (she also speaks french). We were there with... More

English version below. More

Waited one hour for our food without compensation. The food was okay, but nothing special. Mazara has better places to offer. Poor service!

After a long afternoon exploring Mazala, a local shopkeeper recommended this off the track restaurant. La Tavernetta is situated amongst tiny alleyways with tables either inside a traditional Sicilian house and outside in a spacious courtyard. We received a warm welcome by the family who run the restaurant. The food was particularly good, especially the pasta dishes. The house wine... More
