Great Italian food like lasagna and goat meat! Service is moderate and the place needs to be updated!

I ordered lasagna here. It wasn’t nasty or inedible. It was just disappointing considering this is the “#1 Italian restaurant in Dire Dawa.” The environment was a bit dingy as someone said in another review. It didn’t feel like “Paradise.” The owner of this place...should sit down and revisit his/her dream of why he/she opened this restaurant. Freshen up the place. Tweak the recipes a little. Retrain the servers. The place has potential, but the owner has to want to make this place better.More
Got a bit of a surprise when we arrived, as had thought it would be much better. Restaurant was grimy and empty. My husband was the only one who ate. He had the lasagne, which although didn't look that appealing, he said it was fine....My daughter and myself decided to give it a miss, looked too dodgy. Just finished quickly and left.More
I also didn’t think the interior was so inviting but we decided to stay given the good reviews. Service was excellent and the dry goat tibs were tender and delicious. Really soft fresh bread along with the injera and icy cold Harar beer made it...a really great lunch stop.More
I really don't understand the ratings to the point that I wonder if there is another Paradiso Restaurant? Maybe we were at the wrong place? The restaurant was empty, and the decor awful! It was really not a nice place, so we left.
After a week of traditional Ethiopian food, I was ready to try something different and so checked out the Paradiso Restaurant. At the suggestion of the waiter, I selected the lasagna. What a delicious meal with a few local extra spices thrown in. Later, I...found out that because of the Italian influence during World War II Ethiopian is known for great Italian dining. In addition to the food, the service was excellent. It's a terrific place to spend a lazy afternoon.More
We came here twice, once on our way to Harar and once on the way out after Harar. The goat rice is a winner. Deliciously goaty and cam with a bit of bolognese sauce on the side (which we though was sort of weird). However,...the rice itself was perfectly made and spiced, along with the goat, which was tender. Sit outside for a slice of paradise and grab yourself a beer! Only downside is there were a lot of flies inside the covered area of the restaurant.More
It’s my favorite restaurant in DireDawa. I had lunch and dinner. It was delicious. The food was fresh and properly prepared. The service was very good and staffs were friendly.
In paradiso you will find the best food that is served by good waiting stuff, the place is so quite, and very slow music is always on, I liked the food there, and I always go when I am in town.

People have been telling me about this restaurant and how good their food is. The place was really simple, kind of like a big house converted into a restaurant. Menu has a variety of local cultural dishes to Italian cuisine. I have been here quite...a few times and have ordered some items from their menu, and for me, the best dish I had was... LASAGNA. Simply delish. Really had a full stomach after that meal.More
This is a family owned and run restaurant. It's a hole in the wall to some, and a great find to me. The food is consistently good. The food here is amazing. I had it for the first time and I must say if this...is authentic food... Then wow. It tasted amazing, felt like it was home made. They can improve on the interior decoration, but who remembers that when you have 10 star food. So it averages out.More
Good lunch with efficient service. It's hot so there are flies, but the food was good enough for the girls we dance with. Lasagna comes through as a speciality with a nice salad to start things off. Overall, for Dire Dawa, a good bet for...lunch...More
They serve good European dishes in an old but nostalgic used to be Greek house. Clean and very fair price tag. Though I found the waiters to be a little inattentive.
The roasted beaf was awesome. The lasagne was also tasty. You should definitely check this restaurant out.
