This is a quaint little cafe in the center of the city that was used as a filming set in at least two Wallander films. They have a decent selection of pastries. The ambience is sparse, but worth a visit for a Wallander fan.

Ditto to BronteBucket... just being part of the scene made us smile, food basic, Blue Police cake a hoot. Just for the diehards (as it were)

Ok, in simple terms this is just a neighbourhood cafe which serves nice coffee and cakes, however to any Wallander fans this is so much more...it feels like a pilgrimmage to the cafe that the dectective character so often found himself in through Henning Mankell's books. We used our time in Fridolphs to sample the blue icing 'police cake' (?),... More

Breakfast was buffet style, and plenty of choice, in a relaxed unhurried atmosphere. Later we had the 'salad cake' which if you like prawns and salmon tastes delicious.

Lovers of the TV show should go here. Whilst not the most glamorous of places, the coffee is good as well as the cakes. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.

This is the café Kurt Wallander visited in the Mankell books. Here you can have the famous Wallander cake. You can find Fridolfs café near the tourist information and the railway.

This is a real Swedish café. No gloss or sparkle. (No English, either!) Just good coffee and cake. Frequented by locals, and allegedly, Wallander himself. They don't make a big deal about it (other than the eponymous cake), but there are a few framed production photos on the walls.

This is (fictional detective) Kurt Wallander's favourite cafe - so a 'must-see' for anybody visiting Ystad. It was about 20 minutes before closing time on a Saturday (4.00pm) but the girl begind the counter was very friendly and helpful - and I was able to get the last-but-one slice of 'Wallander Cake' with its blue icing. Nothing special but a... More

Little disappointed in the place . Only one girl serving and must have been a bit of a struggle for her- service very slow for the few people in . Good to sit where Wallander hangs out and the cake named after him was quite nice . Does need a bit of a spring clean but maybe that is why... More

Just to sit in the window as Wallander would be more than enough but the cakes, service and generally friendly atmosphere were great. Girl who serves there is so nice and friendly - a real asset. We even had a slice of Wallender Cake.
