Dropped in for lunch. Good choice and staff offered suitable options for gluten free. Service a little slow although there were notices up apologising!

We certainly understand staff shortages and did our very best to adhere to the "be patient because we're doing our best," sign on the wall, but 1 hr 25 minutes to receive our order is still slow, especially when the takeout patrons seemed to be...in and out promptly. Once our food arrived, though, we enjoyed it.More
The portions are big. The service is fast and very friendly/accommodating. The food is made with quality fresh ingredients, and not oily. It’s very good pub fare. There are so many menu options, everything we ordered was tasty! I would highly recommend this place.
Innkeeper recommended Cod Jigger. Very casual and relaxed, steamed mussels appetizer was cooked just right, pan fried cod dinner with baked potato and vegetables was quite good.
Diner/family style restaurant on the way to Fogo from the ferry. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The food is very good. The cooks in the back kitchen know what they are doing. My husband said it was the best western sandwich he has...ever had. Compliments ladies!More
I, along with 3 friends dined here recently. The food was very tasty and the service excellent. We liked it so much we ate there 3 days in a row.
Recently came here for lunch. As a big breakfast lover, I had a breakfast and my wife had a wrap. Food portions and taste was great! Staff members was great to deal with and friendly. This is also a fuel station and convenience store, so...you can buy other things while there.More
The first thing I see is no customers and the 3 teens on their cell phones. Should We reverse and leave. Then we saw a mature lady who we figured to be the cook. Yes she saved the day. My husband who is super fussy...wanted pan fry cod which was delivered to order. Thank you cook. I had a good evening as he was happy with the meal. Service was average but meal excellent.More
We arrived here for dinner and the food was hot and prepared as ordered. We both enjoyed fish- pan fired and deep fried. There were lots of choices on the menu and the staff were prompt and friendly. They also are an outlet for Chester...Fried chicken and Greco Pizza. It took about 20-30 minutes to get our food. There was some local art and crafts to peruse and purchase if you wished. The table were authentic fish splitting table. I had never seen one before. I thought it would've been nice to have this posted so that visitors would know about this. There was another table that was designed to be like a pier. Prices were very reasonable here.More
We are delighted to have discovered such a gem on Fogo Island, we had the two piece fish and chips, it was just delicious, Our friends had fish cakes, and a chicken meal, the meals were both outstanding and delicious... The next morning we went...again for breakfast, again we weren't disappointed... The service and food were awesome... We were also pleased to see that Covid-19 regulations were followed...More
Last weekend we were in Fogo for a May 24 getaway. There are limited places to eat in Fogo and we figured we would give the Cod Jigger Diner a shot. I feel sort of bad giving them a two star rating but I think...it's accurate from our visit, let me explain. I called to make a reservation earlier in the day not knowing if they would be busy. The person on the phone said thank you without taking my name or number which I thought was a bit odd so I asked if they wanted my name and number and they did take it. When we arrived I said I had made a reservation and they did not say anything but showed us to our seat. The immediate feeling both myself and my wife had was that we were somehow inconveniencing the lady who greeted us by being there, it was very unwelcoming in my opinion. Maybe it is from being one of the only restaurants in town, maybe she was having a bad day, I'm not sure but the end result is that we got off on a bad footing right from the start. The younger waitress who came to take our order was a bit more welcoming. We ordered a two piece chicken and fries, mussels and a beef soup. I asked if they had any regular non-light beer, the waitress looked in the fridge and indicated they did not. A little later I noticed a large beer cooler out front with many non-light beer options which I would have liked to have been offered. Our food arrived, I asked for a center and anything else for my two piece chicken and I was served a thigh and a wing. The reason why I am giving them 2 stars is that the chicken was good, it just wasn't what I ordered. Yes I could have sent it back but I was hungry and it looked like it would be a racket to complain which I wasn't in the mood for on our vacation. The fries were not home made, I think they were McCain shoestrings. The mussels were outright terrible, I'm not sure if they were reheated or what the issue was but they were just not what I would have expected. We love mussels but could not finish them. The soup... again just not good. It looked home made but lacked flavor. I was perplexed by this experience. This restaurant has good chicken and I bet they have good fish even though we didn't try it and great prices. The front end service seemed like they knew that and didn't care. My suggestion would be to eat elsewhere.More
We ate here a couple of times and the food was wonderful! It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, but it was delicious!
We go often when on Fogo Island. Usually for breakfasts but sometimes for homemade soup or chili. Fish and chips and chicken and chips are great too. Restaurant is locally owned and the owners are usually in so service and presetation is consistent. Our recent...trip showed great attention to Covid 19 precautions which was also reassuring.More
We had heard about this place when hearing about Fogo Island so we tried it for dinner on July 15/2020. It's a typical restaurant more or less but the service was pretty good and the meal was your standard price for a meal. As we...are in a Covid world they took plenty of precautions in meeting the challenge of this new Covid world so kudos to them for that. The Chester's Breaster is quite famous, it's what one of the people I was with for the meal had and she enjoyed it. I had poutine which was alright as well. Overall a must visit if you're on Fogo Island.More
We couldn't find many places to eat while on Fogo Island and "settled" for the Cod Jigger Diner. Well, we didn't settle at all! The server was crazy busy but very attentive at the same time. The food was hot and fresh and tasty! I've...never seen so many french fries in my life!! This site does it all: gas, fast food, restaurant, convenience store. WOW We were delighted with our dinner and the impression that our visit left on us.More
