We have been here for lunch before but it was our first time at the new venue. We were booked for lunch but landed up doing the beer tasting as well. Which turned out to be lots of fun & very informative. Our lunch was very good. The meals were tasty & well presented & accompanied by one of their... More

My partner and I were lucky enough to celebrate our anniversary at Black Oystercatcher, and what a treat! Our waitress was extremely kind and willing, the wine was delicious, the food fabulous and the ambience was great! Can't wait to go back!

We took a drive from Agulhas (under an hour on the pleasant gravel road, if you take the tar road, a little longer) and first popped in to see Elim, a few minutes further... (worth the visit and walk around!) We booked lunch at the fabulous Black Oystercatcher. We're not big eaters so we shared the Black Oystercatcher platter for... More

Hi Maria V, thank you for the review, and for the strong info on where we're based. And thank you for the kind words on our wine, food and setting. We don't know the Bodega Restaurant that well, but we're thrilled to be compared with them. We hope you'll be back one day too! Kind regards, The Black Oystercatcher team More

We never miss the opportunity to pop in to Black Oyster Catcher to stock up on wine and enjoy a relaxed lunch whenever we are in Arniston for the holidays. The combination of a beautiful venue, great food, excellent wine, friendly service and a space that accommodates the needs of sophisticated foodies and youngsters with equal ease makes it one... Hi Liezlds, we're so thrilled you picked the Black Oystercatcher as the venue to celebrate your mom's birthday. And we're glad you had fun, but we had just as much fun celebrating this wonderful day with Tannie Zabeth and the family. What a wonderful job the Ivy League did too in putting the table decor together. Thank you again for... More

If this one is not on your bucket list - do yourself a favour and add it IMMEDIATELY. Stands up to any select restaurant in the French countryside. Hospitality. Excellent service which retains the charm of the region. Oh - and try more the one of their wines.

Had an enormous fruit/cheese/meat platter and hubby had a beef and venison burger. He also had a craft beer tasting which was very generous and affordable. The only downside was the number of signs saying No Dogs Allowed - which was fine with us, until we were seated at a table next to guests with a scruffy little dog that... More

Hi Karooblossom, thank for the review. And thank you for the kind words regarding the Restaurant - we’re glad you enjoyed your meals. Regarding the point you make on pets, we made the decision a while ago that we would rather not allow visiting dogs to the Black Oystercatcher. That’s because Dirk and Sandra Human (the owners) have the lovely... More

We first visited this place many years ago when there was just a dirt road and a small tasting room. We have watched this grow into a larger tasting room, then the deli, accommodation, restaurant etc. We stop every time we pass sometimes a tasting with perhaps a snack but now they have a large function room restaurant, shame we... The tar road has also successfully connected Hermanus to Agulhas, with our venue en route, as part of the... More

What a great place...in the middle of nowhere. Service excellent...Food great, large portions at very reasonable prices. I had the ham and blue cheese salad which was so fresh and tasty. The staff were really welcoming and very helpful. Craft beers on tap and a brewery attached. Also small deli come gift shop on site. Highly recommended.

Hi Dawn W, thanks for the kind words. And for mentioning our restaurant and our menu. Our motto is to live by the season, so many of the meals we serve come straight from our garden, or they're sourced locally so are therefore still super-fresh. And we recently bought Fraser's Folly craft brewery, so we're thrilled to also add craft... More

Description
At the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, we live by the season. We serve fresh produce that grows in our own garden as the seasons dictate. As a result, we offer a fresh dining experience, set in a relaxed country atmosphere. Here fresh food, complimenting our boutique wines, is prepared to order and enjoyed at leisure. The seasons also determine the mood at this Cape Agulhas restaurant: the refreshing sea breeze will cool you down in summer, or enjoy our cozy log fires in the winter months.
