An amazing find!

When we travel, we like to experience many different restaurants. We stumbled across Restoran Degenija for lunch after visiting the National Park. But it was so good, we went back for dinner, too! The platter of all the different kinds of meats was especially delicious and meant to share with at least 2 or 3 hungry eaters. Everything looks delicious and they are so pleasant and happy to serve you. Many locals eat here, which is a good sign. Just make sure you are hungry when you go! It’s one of those places where you talk about it for days! Yummmm!

As good as it gets in Plitvice

Probably as good as it gets in Plitvice. I had the tuna steak which was seared to perfection, on top of a fairly bland bed of lettuce (enormous portion), and a truffle pasta in a sauce much too creamy for my liking, but which I would wager is most likely just the Croatian way of cooking this dish. The pasta was more like German spätzle noodles than Italian pasta. The restaurant was accommodating in allowing me a half portion of pasta at half the price, and even with a welcome drink, glass of wine, dessert (huge baklava), and coffee I ended on approx €35 which is very reasonable indeed. I had to wait approx 20 minutes to pay, which I hate, but otherwise the waiters were attentive throughout. All in all a decent meal, and the restaurant is spacious, fairly modern, and very clean. Absolutely not accessible by wheelchair in case anyone was wondering.

I had a great breakfast and dinner also, truly recommend! Average spent is ~15 euro per person for dinner and less than 10 for breakfast. (both with a drink) . Portions are really big. Interior of the restaurant is modern and comfy and waiter was professional and polite. I can’t wait to get back to this place :)

We were underwhelmed by the food. The veal peka was mediocre (my pot roast and beef stew are head and shoulders better and they're only OK). The truffle pasta had minimal truffle flavor, overcooked noodles, and seemed to be sauced with some kind of corn starch emulsion rather than cream and butter. Our waiter was rushed, brusque, and rude. He barely made eye contact with us and told me to move my salad plate so he could put my dinner plate down in front of me. Not asked, told, and it was his job to remove the salad plate. To sum, this was the worst dinner and the worst service we've experienced in 3 weeks in Croatia.

Best meat plate in a while

My wife and I took meat plate "Degenija". You get a whole lot of great meat selection, including potatoes, mushrooms, veggies, kajmak and ajvar spread. Waiters were super helpful. Only minus is price (240kn, 32€) but you can't get better meat plate in vicinity.

Highly recomendable; best place to eat

During our 3 day vacation, this was first time in this restaraunt. It was so good so we decided to come tomorrow even we ordered only coffee and their desert from day before (crumble with apples, pears, cinnamon and vanilla ice cream 🤩). Highly recomendable to everyone who wants very clean place, nice atmosphere, excellent food and good service.

The best restaurant in the Plitvice lakes area. The service is fast and all ingredients are fresh and well prepared. My friend and me wanted to eat a souffle for dessert even it was not in menu, but they prepared it for us! We will come back there for sure!!

Nice welcome, choice enough on the menu, excellent price/quality, nice service. When eating after 7.30PM you need to make a reservation otherwise you will wait a while. Very nice place. Surely recommend it...

Great vibe with tasty food and drinks

Was staying next door at same name hotel for an overnight stay to visit Plitvice Lakes. Super convenient that we just walked out of hotel and just a hop, skip and a jump we landed here. Our hotel made a reservation on our behalf and thank God as it was super busy with lines all the way to the parking lot during the majority of our meal. First off they just renovated the restaurant and it was very apparent as they have quite the vibe going with the large bar area and the seating against the front has large windows which were open during our dine in experience. The panoramic views were pretty neat. The food was good, not great but not bad either. I had the wienerschnitzel which was tasty and went well with the chili sauce and fries. Wifey had the beef patties which were super tasty. They have a great selection of adult beverages and their desserts are super tasty. Most definitely check this place out if you are staying at Hotel Degenija or need a good vibe with tasty food and drinks when visiting Plitvice

I ate here while staying at Hotel Jezera at Plitvice Lakes. We had intended at eating at TC Marko which I read several great reviews on in the forums but when we arrived at TC Marko it was closed (I checked their hours on their site prior to going and didn’t see anything notifying customers that they were closed but perhaps I missed it). Degenija has a very nice, modern ambiance. Our waiter was great and suggested items on the menu. My husband got the Local Winter Meal (I think that was the name) which consisted of various meats, cabbage and potatoes. He was very satisfied. I got the trout, it was ok. It was the first time I had had trout. I don’t think the issue was the way the restaurant prepared it, but more so that I am use to other types of fish (but I don’t know since I’ve never had it). I was hesitant to go here based on some reviews in the forums saying it was just ok. I was very satisfied with our meal and would eat here again.

We visited this restaurant twice during our visit to Plitvice national park. The first meal was great, lovey food (we had the turkey in breadcrumbs and the pork medallions) and service spot on. The second night was a bit of a disappointment in comparison. Service was very slow with the waiter taking a long time to take our order and bring our drinks over, and the food wasn’t as nice, perhaps we just chose the better options on the first night? Second night I had the chicken with pesto and my partner had the schnitzel which were both pretty average and flavourless. We didn’t book so had to queue outside in the cold the second night but got lucky and seated right away the first night. We arrived early the first night about 6.30 which is why we got lucky.

The restaurants is located at the main road, just a few kilometers from Plitvice Lakes and adjacent to the hotel with the same name. It has a large free parking lot in front of the entrance and it is very suitable for hotel guests as well as for the people looking for a good meal on their way to the coast or back home. The dining room is huge, comfortable, but a bit cold and dark. The food is very good, mainly traditional and characteristic for the region, with huge portions and reasonable price. It is a very busy place, with lot of people coming and going away, but you should find your seat even without the reservation. The sevice is professional and efficient.

We came to this restaurant after reading the great reviews and we were immensely satisfied! It is located along the national road D1 and easy to find, with plenty of parking. We arrive around 7pm and waited about 20 minutes to be seated, but the courtesy of the staff and the quality of the food paid off. Fortunately, we were seated at a table right next to the window and able to enjoy the panoramic view of the lowlands and forest covered hills while we enjoyed our meal. Apparently reservations are not taken for small groups. Despite being very busy, the serving staff was attentive and we did not have to wait long for placing our order or receiving our meals. I had the gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce, forgot to record what my husband ordered but both mains were excellent. Only negative comment is that it was quite noisy, but that was to ne expected given how many people were in the restaurant enjoying their meals. We had no room for dessert.

Great food, nice staff. Lots of tasty options for vegetarians and pescatarians which is hard to find in this part of Croatia. The waiter guessed we were Dutch and then threw in all kinds of Dutch words, which was very funny. After dinner, we booked again for a second night. Also they have a great selection of gin tonics and other cocktails.

Attracted by the reviews, we dined at this restaurant without a reservation and after waiting only 15 minutes. The staff is very friendly and the place is very well kept. The appetizer of local cheeses was well served, while the bruschetta was more like a pizza cut into four parts. The goulash was good but excessive in terms of portions, as was the pork dish, which was of good quality but impossible to finish.
