This is a food bar located in the Kitimat shopping mall on the bottom, main floor of the mall.On this particular day the mall was completely empty...seriously you could hear a pin drop.During our Mall outing we sat down at a table (only tables in the...mall)to have lunch that we had bought from another food bar( they weren't allowing seating due to covid concerns). The server from Moms came up to us and asked if we had bought the lunch from Moms...she was the only server.....jeesh....we said no and we were asked to leave the table. This isn't a restaurant!!!.The four tables are located in the common area of the mall and they were completely unoccupied...no wonder the mall is empty! Kitimat wants its residents to keep business local...cant even sit down for 5 minutes,at the only tables in the mall common area, to have lunch and shop. Oh well....off to Terrace we go...just like the rest of the locals.More

I’ll admit that MOM’S CUISINE is a pretty decent place. Situated on the ground floor of the Kitimat Mall, MOM’S is at the literal center of all the . . . subdued action. It’s also one of only two establishments attached to, or in, the...mall (The Bistro AKA PF Pizzeria is the other). And if given a choice between the two, I know where I’m going (hint: It’s not The Bistro). But all of that said, I’m not saying MOM’S is stellar by any means because it isn’t. It’s just “average,” but even that blows the completion out of the water. And it’s convenient. Being at the literal center of the mall, people just naturally tend to gravitate to it. I mean, what better place to go for a snack after some light shopping? With a modest seating area, and lotto centre just steps away, it makes for a relaxing reprieve of sorts. Then, while you’re playing KENO or eating your food, you can also people watch . . . if there’s actually anyone else in the mall, that is ;) One thing that people have said in the reviews that I agree is true is the friendliness of staff. I visited MOM’S on two occasions and, each time, was treated very well by the folks working the counter area. But one thing that I’ll contest is the assertion that MOM’S is home to “home cooking.” Reviewing the menu, I didn’t see much that spoke to food from home. Maybe just the soups and Bifana? Besides that, practically everything else on the menu looked to be just pre-packaged, quick order food. To be fair, though, that’s to be expected given that MOM’S is a very small operation. When I visited, I ordered the chicken & fries combo (with a side of gravy). The food was prepared quickly and served promptly. Both were clearly out of a package, but I can’t fault them for execution because at least it was done well. My chicken had a nice crispy skin and juicy interior but the fries, while done properly, were just your typical frozen fries, so not too much to say there. On a subsequent visit with the family, we ordered the mini donuts. Again, they were just your pre-made “State Fair” brand but they were decent enough and a nice treat. FOOD: 3/5 SERVICE: 4/5 VALUE: 3/5 RECOMMENDATION: In a mall with only two food options, I think it’s safe to say that MOM’S is your best bet because the other eatery, while it has an attractive menu, is just not good. The menu at MOM’S is simple – breakfast sandwiches, regular sandwiches, soups, chicken, hot dogs, onion rings, etc. – but effective for what it is. Mild recommendation. I enjoyed a relaxing cup of coffee with a sandwhich and a "cookie". All were great on a rainy day. It is a nice stop in the Kitimat mall, especially when browsing for fishing gear next door and a cold, rainy, and windy day that...kept us off the ocean. The owners were working and were very welcoming, it was a great value fir the price we paid.More

The service is what it's all about. It was early morning and I had my little grandson for the day. There is no place to change babies in the mall and I really needed coffee as well as to let little one stretch his legs....M.O.M.s is a welcome, safe, clean spot to get your bearings. Located on the ground floor centre of the mall, there is often a coffee crowd of friendly folk chatting nearby which is comforting when you're a stranger with a Baby. The staff magically procured a folding highchair contraption and brought our food over. Mostly the staff smiled frequently and were kindly so I'm going back.More

Small restaurant located in the middle of the mall. Lots of tables and chairs for customers. Lots of different ethnic foods. Portuguese bifanas and their rice pudding are my favorite. Also their milk tarts which are only made on Wednesdays are amazing. Get there early...as they disappear quickly.More
