This restaurant had just reopened a couple days before we travelled due to Covid 19 and service was very slow . They probably were not expecting the amount of customers that were sick of staying at home. The food was really good though.
The seating was limited so there was a line up.
We also ate breakfast here 2 mornings because we stayed in the Chalet Motel and breakfast was included with the room. The breakfast was very plentiful and the first morning the place was as crowded as it could be with all the restrictions. There was a steady stream of customers, some left when they saw the lineup.

The consistency in quality shows here and even the chef could be seen wearing a mask. I had fish and cod and the fries may not seem important to most but they served home cut fries from real potatoes that the chef took the time to season himself. That really impressed me and speaks volumes for their mindfulness for quality. The burger they served was so much greater than the local drive-throughs that don't even come close. I will be glad to come here for our next get out of the house ding experience in Kitimat.

This restaurant was highly recommended by a staff member of the Mstar hotel and it didn't disappoint. I went for an early dinner (~5 pm) and it was already quite full. I ordered the Salmon Oscar entree and while it took a while to arrive it was worth the wait. The meal came with crab and shrimp, vegetables on a bed of rice. This meal was fantastic and the piece of fresh salmon was huge and so was the entree. I would say the salmon was about twice the size as I would expect to see elsewhere and I was stuffed after I finished the plate. The restaurant decor is old but meant to give a rustic log cabin (chalet) feel. I would recommend eating here.

This restaurant was right beside our lovely motel and the menu in our room looked promising. We weren’t disappointed. The ambiance is the only thing that could be improved upon as the casual side of the restaurant gave us pause when we walked in and the “fine dining” side was closed. Despite the small town diner feel to the side we were seated on, the food did not disappoint. I had the Jambalaya and my husband had the Salmon and Prawns. The portions were generous and the flavour was on point. Our server was friendly and helpful. They have two local brews on tap - one from Terrace and one from Kitimat. For dessert we opted to share their dreamy carrot cake. We would definitely dine there again.

Decent portions for the money, 4 of us all ordered something different BLT, burger, poutine, chicken sandwich) and all cleared our plates. Service was friendly and quick enough for a business lunch on a schedule.

One member of the staff was extremely rude,
She thought it was ok to berat me because I asked her for honey for my coffee, after sitting for nearly 10 min , I went to the till and asked her about my Honey, she got extremely rude and berated me, saying that I should be more patient from now on.
When you order a coffee, they should look after your needs. Not berat me infront of other customers. Perhaps her parents never taught her manners.
Either way we won't be back here , and as a local business owner I will actively mention to anyone I see that Rosario's is now open for breakfast.
Not only the above mentioned, but now she returns to the table 20 mins after we ordered and asks us for our order,
She didn't put it in. .
This is the absolute worst service ever. We got up and left , while she insulted us on our way out.
This was supposed to be a breakfast with my son on family day.
DON'T GO HERE, WORST SERVICE IN KITIMAT .

Honestly I had heard good things about this place so we tried it out! Very disappointed in our experience! We ordered Cesar salad, chicken fingers and what was supposed to be stir fry! The salad was extremely wilted the stirfry was dripping in sauce. Most of the food was absolutely disgusting except the fries and the chicken fingers were just ok. After paying $20 for the stirfry I would absolutely not recommend it at all completely disgusting the dogs would not even eat it! We will not be back here for sure

Had two breakfasts at the Chalet Restaurant. The food was very good. I enjoyed real coffee instead of coffee pods in my room. Great service from Brooklyn. Centrally located in downtown Kitimat.

Took my dad for breakfast before we headed to the airport. Was leery as dinners have been hit and miss. And I’ve never had a breakfast at the Chalet. We sat on the bistro side I guess it’s called. Opposite the dinning room. Pleasantly surprised the food was delicious. I had a English muffin and hash browns. It was the good old fashioned bacon, cheese and egg. It could have a side option of guacamole & or a honey mustard sauce for the muffin. But otherwise it was yummy in my tummy!! Service was good. Nothing spectacular but good. Server was very young, she was whispering like everything was a secret. But she will learn!! My tea water was cold upon arrival so next time I might just order coffee! Dad enjoyed his omelette. Reasonable prices. Friendly, atmosphere and clean. Will return, eyeing the eggs benny for next visit!

Haven’t been there for about 4 years but I usually had breakfast. The food is good and the service is good. Lots of parking. I’d recommend. The Chalet has been around for many years

With the recent closure of Cor’s, Chalet Restaurant is, in my humble opinion, THE place to go for a good, moderately high end meal in Kitimat. Notice I did not say “fine dining” because that’s not what Chalet is. Having been in operation for over 4 decades, this establishment prides itself on offering a relaxed dining atmosphere for the whole family – there’s nothing hoity toity about this place. Sure, there is a “fine dining side” to the restaurant as well as a “café area” but, in all honesty, I’ve noted very little difference between the two other than table settings. The two sides are, in essence, the same. Both offer a delightful rustic ambiance as well as decent views of the town.
When it comes to food, Chalet was one of only three establishments I bothered returning to. Why? The food, concomitant with exceptional service, basically demanded it! Where else in Kitimat can you get lobster and a good schnitzel? For me, the definite highlight of Chalet is their German cuisine. The “Schnitzel Oscar,” in particular, was a delightful treat. The pork was thin and tender while the outer coating added a nice textural element that worked well with the crab and hollandaise sauce. Top off this meal with a homemade Bavarian Cheesecake and you know you’ve got a winner. Chalet gets a strong “A” for plating and taste when it comes to the German flavours. On a subsequent visit, I tried the steak & lobster since the former is highlighted on their dinner menu. On the whole, I found the dish to be very nice. My steak was cooked to order; it was full of flavour; and it came with a generous serving of sautéed mushrooms, which I appreciate with a quality steak. The accompanying lobster, while it looked nice, was a missed opportunity: It was overdone and therefore a bit on the tough side.
On my most recent visit to Chalet, I stopped by for lunch. After a disappointing burger at Rosario’s, I wanted to see what Chalet had to offer. As such, I ordered the “Chalet Burger” with a Caesar Salad. My lunch came in good time and the burger certainly was not left wanting for toppings. It was loaded with sautéed mushrooms, fried onions, REAL bacon and cheese. All of this, I should note, was served atop a hand-formed beef patty. The burger was kind of messy, but damn good – it had flavour! I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said this was one of the best burgers I’ve had in recent memory. I was not left asking, “where’s the beef?,” nor was I questioning whether or not the bacon was real because that was self-evident.
FOOD: 4/5
SERVICE: 4/5
VALUE: 5/5
RECOMMENDATION: As I said at the beginning of this review, Chalet is now the place to go for a quality meal in Kitimat. Everything I’ve had – for lunch and dinner – has been noteworthy. The only reason I’m not giving this place a solid 5-star review is because of a couple of small technical issues: 1) My lobster was over-cooked; and, 2) The Caesar salad, while usually very good with its house-made dressing, can be hit or miss. Sometimes the salad to dressing ratio can be spot-on while at other times the salad might be swimming in said dressing. If Chalet can correct these small matters, then they’ll be that much better for it. Highly recommended!

Been coming to Kitimat for years and just found this place! I am celiac and They went out of their way to make me a safe breakfast, gluten free French toast and bacon. Was delicious. Bf had hash browns, eggs and toast, I think he had his meal finished in 2 minutes, said it was delicious. Service was fast and polite. This will be our new go to for breakfast when visiting Kitimat.

As I’m from Kelowna and my boyfriend lives in Kitimat it’s very challenging to go out and enjoy dinner in Kitimat as it’s far from even comparing the dinning to Kelowna. But we made the best of it!!! We celebrated the eve before New Year’s Eve as my man had to work night shift New Year’s Eve. I made a reservation thinking it might be busy.....not....but the girl on the phone that took my reservation made it seem like it was going to be super busy but turned out we were the only people in the restaurant all night! Our waitress was sick. She had laryngitis and barley could talk she was so sick. Obviously there was no other staff to call in or she just worked when she was sick. Very unsanitary in the restaurant business. From the moment we got there we were rushed. Immediately upon sitting the waitress asked if we knew what we wanted to order..... what happened to enjoying a glass or 2 of wine first??? After I explained to her we were going to enjoy a bottle of wine prior to even looking at the menu we felt as thou we were keeping everyone from closing up and heading home for the night, it was 6pm!!! Anyway we were there for 3 hours and 2 bottles of wine later, my dinner was very tasty. Better than our first visit to this restaurant. Will return as there is not many choices to eat out in this town!!

Went there to meet someone for breakfast while visiting Kitimat. No dark roast coffee or Americanos so opted for tea instead. Had an omelette. No spinach in the kitchen when the server asked if they could put spinach in my omelette. OK food, price was cheaper than Vancouver as I only paid $23.50 for 2 breakfasts and drinks. Service was fine. If back in Kitimat I would go again and try lunch or dinner as it was recommended by locals as one of the better places to eat in town. Loved the old log look that I fondly remember from childhood.
