If you are in St Lucia, a visit to this beautiful restaurant and bar is a must! The reviews speak for themselves - Fluffy and Sue are fantastic hosts, and instantly make you feel like family - we had their reggae chicken and it was the best meal we’ve had on the island in over a week - really delicious! The view is beautiful too, and it’s great value for money. We also happened to watch their episode of restaurants on the edge on Netflix - super interesting and definitely worth a watch before visiting, you’ll get a feel of the whole island and also a taste of the heart and spirit of the restaurant! Thanks so much for such a memorable evening - if we are ever on the island again we will definitely be back!

Roots was recommended to us by our air bnb host and did not disappoint. We watched the Netflix special ahead of time and visited for Christmas Eve! Sue and Fluffy were amazing in accommodating my older mother by picking her up and making sure she was comfortable. Now to the food and ambiance. A true local home cooked meal that included Fluffy’s secret sauce with an incredible view. Eating here really is like eating with family. Thank you for a very special evening and letting us be a part of your family. 🎄

After an unproblematic reservation and a nice preliminary discussion regarding the contact number and sending the menu via WhatsApp, we pre-ordered Reggea Chicken via WhatsApp. We received a very warm welcome at the agreed time. A relaxed atmosphere and delicious drinks started this lovely evening.
The food was probably the best you can get on the island. Divine! You have to experience this cute little reservation.

The host Sue welcomed us like family onto her porch, a small intimate dining experience with an amazing view of Marigot Bay. We were treated to local Wahoo fish, molasses glazed chicken, a family sauce cooked in a clay pot, coconut water, lovely Dasheen root and plantains, and rice. Topped with fresh banana ice cream and banana bread! Highly recommended!

So worth the visit! We had a wonderful experience at Roots 2. Firstly, the booking process was really easy with great service - very accommodating to our guest who was vegan. When we got to the restaurant, Sue was so warm and welcoming. The food was so delicious, really moist chicken and Fluffy’s secret source - delish!

Our first trip to St. Lucia was about 10 years ago, and we patronized the original Roots Bar on the beach below the Marigot Villas. It was fun! Love the locals they always have an angle but they are not too pushy. They always had us laughing with how creative they are at marketing what they have to sell.
During Covid we tried to get back to St. Lucia but had to cancel a couple of times. During Covid we watched "Restaurants on the Edge" on N, etflix and low and behold, they highlighted ROOT2 and the problem of Lionfish (as it is here where we live) destroyed the local fish and habitats. The crew of the netflix series revamped and worked with Fluffy and Sue, to revive their restaurant and menu to include Lionfish.
I let the owners know we were coming as we had been speaking for over 2 years. Sue Whatsapp'd me and presented me with options for our dinner, all local. We selected the local catch of the day.
When we arrived, we had flowers on our table and a place card on a small chalk board with our names on our private table. We sat at the hightop stools bar top amazed at the view over Marigot Bay. Then dinner.
Local vegies, local fish and totally the flavors of St. Lucia prepared only when we were ready to eat, i t was amazing!
What I did not expect was the conversation with Sue mostly and then Fluffy, a marriage made in love and resillence. I asked about Covid and the island and found myself astonished by what they had been through. All the strides gained from the netflix series were stopped one month later because of Covid.
They continue to rebuild their lives, love their children and their neighbors. I am a better person for meeting them. You will be too! Because Sue is a Brit, order the gin and tonic and lime...perfection. And just let Fluffy cook his magic. Love St. Lucia, Fluffy and Sue, we will be back, Lord willing!!! Till then, keep doing what you do, it works. Love you guys...Mark and Cindy

This place is a must if you are in the Marigot Bay area. It’s not a lot more than a shack but that adds to the charm. Two or three dishes a day that you preorder a couple of days or a day before (no walk-ins) guarantees freshness and whilst the choice is limited what they cook they cook well. Much better experience here for dinner than any of the places around the bay in my opinion.
Lovely place, only seats about 16 people and with Sue as front of house they’ve got it right. Would I go back? Of course, can’t wait !

My husband and I had dinner at Roots 2. We had some good dinners at other restaurants on the island, but Roots 2 was by far our favorite. Fluffy's cooking was incredible. We ordered the fish and chicken and shared each meal and they were absolutely delicious! Sue was so friendly and so attentive. Their daughters helped serve and were lovely as well. Their attention to detail, from remembering the guests' names, to a little chalkboard with my name on it, at my place setting, to her delicious drinks-by far the best gin & tonic, everything was awesome. They just do one seating, so we weren't rushed to finish our meal and had time to visit with both Sue and Fluffy afterwards. This was by far the best meal we had on the island and highly recommend it. Call ahead for a reservation and to tell them your meal choice. Fresh fish caught that day varies according to what they catch-love that! There is also a show on Netflix," Restaurants On the Edge" St. Lucia, that is about Roots 2 and Sue and Fluffy. Very special place.

I went to this place twice for food as i really enjoyed the food and the service. It is run by Fluffy and Sue. Fluffy is a really good cook who understands his local ingredients and sue is a great host. I even popped in for drinks on the other nights i was there
This is not some fancy restaurant with fancy service. It just serves a simple menu using local ingredients. It is also well priced compared to other restaurants in the area
The view is also amazing with brilliants views over marigot bay where you get a great sunset and also views over towards Roseau

We just enjoyed our second dinner at Roots 2 and, once again, they hit it out of the park on all levels. First, you cannot beat the location — high up on a hill overlooking Marigot Bay with a glorious view of the setting sun. We arrived early to enjoy their fabulous rum punch on their open air porch with stools looking out to the bay. Beyond Magical. Second, the hospitality is second to none. Sue, who owns the restaurant with her partner Fluff, is one of the most gracious, positive and authentically warm hosts we’ve ever encountered. From the time you step on to their porch you are greeted like a friend and treated like a treasured guest. We so enjoyed our conversations with Sue and would go back to Roots just to spend time with her! Finally, the food does not disappoint! Authenticate local/fresh food perfectly prepared by Fluff. Each evening there are three options: Reggae Chicken, Catch of the Day and a Vegan dish. Their focus is on freshness so the fish is what was caught that day. If the fishermen don’t catch it that day, they don’t serve it. Similarly, the sides that accompany their dishes feature local vegetables in season along with rice and peas and noodles. All of this is served with their signature sauces that beautifully complement each dish. The plates are very generous so there are no starters and there is one dessert offering that changes frequently. Our first visit the dessert was a creamy coconut cake with chocolate and our second visit it was a scoop of coconut ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce. Because of Roots focus on truly fresh food and highly personal service they have only about 5 - 6 tables with just one seating each evening. The table you are seated in is yours for the night. That means you must make reservations (there is no room for walk ins unless you win the lottery and there was a last minute cancellation) and Sue will ask for your order in advance. If you want to learn more I’d encourage you to watch season 1, episode 6 of “Restaurants on the Edge” which features Roots. We found it on YouTube. If you want to try an authentic local restaurant experience with fabulous food served in a wonderful setting and run by a lovely couple look no further than Roots 2!

A very casual and fun spot at the top of the hill overlooking Marigot Bay. The venue is small (seats about 16) and reservations well in advance are a must!!! Sue will take great care of you in the open air dining area while her husband (aka Fluffy) dishes up delicious dinners from the kitchen. You will be asked to pick your entree in advance (Chicken, Fish or Veggie option the night we went). We selected the chicken and fish. It was Mahi for our night but it’s whatever is fresh. There is a limited bar (beer, some mixed drinks, and of course rum punch!). You will also be offered the dessert of the day. It was homemade coconut ice cream and chocolate cake for us and it was yummy. It is ample to split for 2, although many patrons took one for themselves. All in all an excellent, fun experience and will be on our go-to list the next time in St Lucia!

We knew about the ROOTS beach bar as regular vacationers at Marigot Bay over the last 20 years, but only read about ROOTS 2 when researching where to have our 17th anniversary dinner this year on Trip Advisor. It was an easy experience contacting Sue and arranging a reservation a week before we traveled.
The food on the small menu is the best we have had on the bay in many years, and the atmosphere was perfect for us - small, casual and fun.
To get a really good feel for the area and Sue & Fluffy, watch the Netflix show "Restaurants on the Edge" episode 3 - St. Lucia.
Cheers to Sue & Fluffy for our best St Lucian meal in years!

If you want an authentic dining experience, this is a great place for it! One of our group members met the owner via email, and she was gracious enough to open up and host our entire group for a private birthday lunch. Afterward, she helped us move the party down to the beach while she opened up Roots 1 and served us drinks and took care of us all afternoon.

It was the perfect dinner for the first night of our vacation to Marigot Bay!
We made a reservation and requested which meal we would like in advance of the trip, so we knew the food was going to be super fresh and we’re not disappointed. My boyfriend got the fish and I got the chicken and we ended up splitting both — so delicious! The rice, the salad, all the sides perfectly complimented the main dish. We left feeling very full and content after a long travel day.
The restaurant is charming with lots of local touches and you truly cannot bet the view, it’s breathtaking.
We felt SO welcome by Sue, her daughters, and Fluffy. This is truly a family business. Sue have us some local tips for the area, made recommendations for other places we should check out. She offered that we could call or text her if we had any questions during our stay since she lives right by the resort. We were blown away by the hospitality.
Definitely recommend popping up the road if you’re staying at Marigot Bay or making the trip over even if you’re staying on another part of the island for some authentic home-cooking and a great view. The roads can be a bit windy/bumpy around there, but definitely doable in a rental car (we didn’t have a problem!) or in a cab.

Oh so freshly made, table is yours all night to enjoy. Super friendly service, too!
Started off with a drink of the day, Strongbow cider, a nice white wine and a diet soft drink, with a large bottle of still water to share.
I had the “Catch of the Day”, which was mahi in a tropical sauce, and accompanied by a green salad, light dressing, some plantains/root veggies, rice, pasta in a cream sauce, and a sampling of the chef’s “special family recipe sauce”, which was amazing with some mildly tangy and sweet taste (we asked for more lol)
The others in my group had the barbecued chicken, which was nicely sweet and smoky.
We split some chocolate ice creams with chocolate syrup for dessert.
We were seated at 6:45 for our reservation and enjoyed the dinner, view overlooking Marigot Bay and also the mountains to the south (Not the Pitons but nice nonetheless), until nearly 9 pm
Well worth a trip to Marigot Bay and perhaps staying for a sunset and a delicious meal.
Make reservations via phone, Facebook message or WhatsApp at least a day in advance, choosing your entrée when you reserve.
Cash and PayPal only as of June 2022.
