This was a return visit to Meat Cove after 30 yrs and we weren't disappointed. We had exceptional view from our Rv dining window and the reception was special. This place is a must see if you're visiting Nova Scotia. They promised the road will...be better soon :)) But, it's a part of the adventure! We enjoyed our walk to the beach and brought home a colorful rock as a memento....it was fun to see the rock statues others had built! The weather was great. They have made more accommodations for those without RVs. Nice Cabins and a beautiful lodge. We hope they'll be able to offer electric hook up in future. The seafood chowder was outstanding....in the 2 days we were there we ordered it 3 times!!!More

Take your time on your drive to get there (the road is in bad condition). The camping is family owned and SO friendly <3 Go see the sunset on the left from the short (20 minutes) hike. You might be lucky enough to see minke...whales ;) Pick a tent on the right side, facing the beach. You will be able to take pictures on the sunrise from your tent ;) Do not eat the lobster / crab rolls. It's expensive and not tasty. The chowder however is worth its price ! They recently renovated the toilets / showers and it's nice and clean. It was nice to walk the beach down the cliff. We were there during low season so there were not that many people, but we can easily imagine this place being super crowded because it is worth it.More

We camped at #15. Even though it rained on us, the camp site was picturesque. The beach down below was a nice way to have a quick swim. Justin was funny but caring. The site was very accessible for all. The ramp up to the...bathroom and the extra large bathroom were well designed. We did not buy food. The drive was worth it.More

We stayed at the new chalet at the Meat Cove campground and it was amazing! Beautiful and comfortable inside and had a gorgeous deck with a hot tub. It has 3 bedrooms so perfect for a couples getaway or family vacation! Friendly staff and a...beautiful view!More

After an hour driving along really bumpy roads and potholes galore in the pouring rain, we finally arrived in Meat Cove. We were able to see the beautiful view even through the rain and it truly was breathtaking. The Chowder Hut is now no longer...a restaurant but rather a food truck serving all of the same food by the same owner and it was the BEST Seafood chowder we had on our trip. However, we were only able to get 1 bowl as she was sold out! We will have to go back for more someday!More

This may be a great campground—it’s certainly a beautiful location, and Justin is very accommodating. I miss the restaurant that used to be up here. I drove my brother up here thinking we would get a beer and a meal. The roads are rough—it’s a...long way to go for a good view.More

We were on a camping tour of Cape Breton. This was by far my favourite spot and campground on our trip. The staff were pleasant, friendly, and helpful. All the facilities were clean and functioning. The cliffside & water-views, surrounded by the hills all around...were beautiful. Sunrise & sunset over the water is not to be missed. I have nothing negative to say about this experience. Prices were generally reasonable. Definitely a great place to rest & recharge the batteries.More

We stayed two nights in cabin 5. It was immaculate. Lovely little deck overlooking the ocean. The campground manager, Justin, was awesome and super helpful. Bathrooms and shower areas are clean. Chowder House restaurant fish and chips are crispy and delicious. And staff are great!...This is a really well maintained property on one of the most beautiful pieces of land in Canada. You are literally on the edge of the earth, looking out at nothing but clear blue sea. The beach is spectacular. Bring beach shoes because it’s rocky. We stayed on that beach from 11am to almost 5 and it was the best day of our vacation. Warm water. Swimming rocks you can dive off. Perfection! I know it’s a bit of a drive it 100% worth it. Not to be missed!!More

The most northern part of Cape Breton Island. Named from the time hunters used the location to “dress” their carcasses. Extreme winding roads to get there but worth it to see the stunning scenery from up there. Tried the Fish and Chip at the Chowder...Hut, but was upset with the "Price gouging" of $ 20 for 2 oil-soaked pieces of fish, some chips and a small cup of coleslaw. (The oil used to fry the fish was old and had not been changed in a while). Service was poor - she gave my order initially to somebody else. The order took 20 minutes to arrive.More

A while back we were at this establishment I have a problem with severe shellfish allergies! Finally I found this place that had a chowder of fish only..no other seafood in it and the fish cakes were awesome! Afterwards I. travelled to St John's NFLD...on the main George Street and most of the restaurants I checked out only served a chowder with a mixture of fish and other seafood. My wife being from Barbados has often made fish cakes at home but on the road finally we found this awesome establishment that can cater to my needs. Well done folks!!!More

We were travelling in Cape Breton last week for a foliage trip. We specifically planned to go out to Meat Cove not to stay at the camp ground but just for the trip out there. It’s a beautiful ride and if you have the proper...vehicle, you should do it! We checked on the dates the Chowder Hut was opened and their ads state that they will close on October 15th. NOT SO! We were there on the 10th and there was a “closed for the season” sign on the place. I don’t know how the food is when the place is opened so I can’t speak to that. BUT if you state in your publicity that you are opened from May ??? To October 15th for heaven’s sake don’t close before that without telling people. It isn’t as if there is a McDonald’s around every corner and people get hungry!More

Stayed here on the last night of the season. Arrived shortly after closing but Justin accommodated me. It was a long day on the motorcycle. The cabin was perfect and I had a comfortable night's sleep on top of the cliff listening to the waves...crash into the rocks below. To add to my evening, the kitchen had closed but they quickly put together a scallop and chips supper for me. I was so grateful. Perfect end of one day and start to the next day, eating breakfast on the porch of the cabin facing the sunrise.More

I had such a wonderful stay at this campground! I opted to stay in one of the basic cabins and really loved having my dinner and breakfast on the small deck. Everything is so well maintained and extremely clean! The cabin was spotless when I...checked in and the washrooms and showers are lovely and well maintained! I though about just staying in Meat Cove forever! Stay here- you won’t be disappointed!More

Tenting is first come, first served. They do have small chalets that require reservation. We rented and had no problem finding a site without calling ahead. It’s worth a shot - the views are heavenly!
