Stopped in here to visit garden centre and have lunch in the restaurant. Went in for lunch first. The wife has allergies but she got her gluten free bread with chicken mayo banana milkshake and a fresh cream meringue. Milkshake was outstanding but disappointed with...sandwich not a lot of chicken or mayo. I had tomato soup and a knickerbocker glory and a strawberry milkshake. The staff were rushed off their feet but still managed to deliver excellent service. Wife went round garden centre quite small prices were expensive but managed to find an item for the home. Would return to restaurant and would recommend to anyone.More

If i am on the way south , and on the West coast always go to Poppies, It was very busy, but worth the wait , had toasted sandwich and usual milk shake, sadly not up to the usual, Milk shake wasn't even cold, sandwich...was dry , maybe overwhelmed a bit, 2 of the staff were a bit short and snappy, but maybe just unlucky on the day.More

We decided to come for lunch because the reviews looked good. The views are great. I was disappointed that there was no kids menu. I ordered a gourmet chicken sandwich but it was more like a burger and was very dry. The salad and salad...dressing were really nice. I felt the portion sizes were a bit small considering the prices. The staff were great and can't be faulted. So a bit of a mixed experience for usMore

It’s an out-of-the-way garden centre that does more food business than selling garden products. Despite being short on staff, like almost every restaurant in Oban, Poppies makes a good fist of serving up a great choice of quality food. The restaurant, Roxy, was run off...her feet, but kept smiling and delivering a professional service.More

Went in for lunch with some family members who live nearby. The choice was outstanding, I could go everyday for weeks and still have something different. Food lovely, staff friendly and even on a wet overcast day the view is stunning. Highly recommended

Took my Mum and Wife to Poppies for lunch. Nice ploughman's lunch, good portions and a cracking view. Very decent.

Our second day in Oban was wet so we decided to visit poppies garden centre for lunch. Many others obviously had the same idea and we found ourselves queuing for a table. The wait was only 15 minutes not a big deal as we were...out of the rain and had an opportunity to look around the small garden centre. There was ample choice on the menu. We chose a burger with salad and a blt with salad and did not have to wait long for them to arrive. Both were excellent although not cheap. Would certainly recommend for a lunchtime meal.More

We had time to kill before getting in to our accommodation and as we were passing Bren said "that's the place that our neighbour got plants from, lets go in" So in we went, lovely shop, nice plants, wonderful view and then the "Gem" the...cafe. Working under Covid cannot be easy, this wee place, the people were doing everything they could to make it easy for the CUSTOMER, although the sign said they were short of staff, we got 100% attention, the food was excellent, the cost was very reasonable, the toilets, very clean, we came away feeling that we had one of those experiences that just makes you smile. Well done guys, love it.More

After reading reviews I needed to and check it out. We had egg benedict (£8.99 each) and two banana milk shake.. Milk shakes came first and iv got to say it was the worse one iv had. Syrup was showing at the bottom and did...nit taste iff banana. The egg benedict looked yum as it was put in front off us. Unfortunately it's the worse one iv had. Don't get me wrong it was nice just not the nicest tasting one. The bread was like a scone if it had been toasted it might have been better. I would go again but I wouldnt choose those.More

When we visit Oban, a visit to Poppies is always a delight. Excellent food and service makes Poppies the place for us to meet up with friends and we have never felt that we have overstayed our welcome. Very well done.
