We met another couple here for a visit which was central for both of us. Amazingly comfortable with delicious food choices. Loved the relaxing atmosphere. Pies which can also be purchased to take home were reasonably priced for the value. Wonderful to have so many baked good choices! A must go to place.

This is a place I have come many times because of the gluten free options. Until recently I would have always given it a five star review. That’s why I made a point of taking my mother-in-law there for lunch one day last week. If that had been my only experience of the restaurant ever, I would have given it a 2 star review. So I am compromising with a 4. What makes this cafe great in my opinion is the gluten free option. They even have a dedicated gf toaster for options with gf bread, Staff have always been attentive to food allergy requests, which makes it a place we return to regularly. Where the restaurant fell short in my last visit was that our order took exceptionally long to prepare. They also seemed to be short on some things like coleslaw, and substitutions were made without consultation. Consequently the presentation was lacking on one dish, accuracy of menu description was lacking on another, and a wasteful substitution was made for the other, I left feeling embarrassed that I had made a point of driving my mother in law over from Collingwood to try this great cafe we have loved so much in past. Nevertheless, since it has been excellent previously, I would certainly give it another try.

Great little cafe for coffee. We started wtih coffee and chocolate croissant , and ended up going back several times for take out breakfast sandwitches. BLT, on multigrain and toasted western on sourdough. Both were great. We went back the next day for more of the same. Very friendly staff, and efficient service. Order, get a number, and then wait outside for your order to prevent too many people inside.

We did not get to try their meals as were were told 1 hour before closing that the kitchen was closed. We did get some pastries. The scones are not the right consistency. The service is bad. And the organization is non existing. People who actually have placed their orders wait in the same line as everyone who wants a piece of bread. So to buy one croissant you have to wait 20 min or more. We only waited as we did not know where else to buy bread

We have been coming here for many years. Since they expanded the quality of food and service has deteriorated greatly. The last sandwich I ordered I threw out. The baked goods are like dough bricks. They used to make a good scone but no longer. You could use it as a door stop. The staff are clueless kids who don’t listen to your order. The bread was stale and the order was wrong. People line up like sheep because there is nothing else to eat in thornbury otherwise they would be out of business.

My partner and I went to the Cafe on a Sunday afternoon as a lot of other restaurants and cafes closed early in the area. We ordered a latte, roast beef & provolone sandwich, bell pepper & tomato soup, red velvet cupcake, and a carrot cupcake. The food in my opinion was all simple (how fancy can you get with a carrot cupcake), but it was all very well made and delicious. The prices were medium-high. If you're looking for a yummy and filling lunch, I recommend this place!

We needed a quick lunch and didn't want fast food so we came to the bakery. Enjoyed the soup and sausage roll. The person cooking the hot food should cook a whole order at once. People were all getting their food at different times making it difficult to enjoy lunch "together ". Other than that good food and friendly staff.

While the pastries may be good we did not try them. While our roast beef sandwich and egg sandwiches had an abundance of meat and egg the bread was very dry with no butter, margarine or mayonnaise. The white bread for the egg sandwich was also VERY stale. $3.25 for a bottle of coke or root beer with no refills also is quite high. The day we were there service was quite slow. You should not have to wait 20 minutes for a sandwich. It appears to be a very popular spot for lunch although it my have been because it was the only restaurant open in Thornbury when we were there on a Monday. If you like rubbing elbows with your neighbour dining in is an alternative.

Staff seemed overwhelmed and had little inventory. Never heard of a restaurant/bakery that runs out of white bread at lunch time. Food was not worth the price we paid. Reuben sandwich had hardly any meat on it and was supposed to have Swiss cheese but had something different. My sandwich was also burnt and not very good. Will definitely not return.

Opened in 1901 How the hell have they stayed open? I didn't think it was possible to screw up a cup of tea...but they managed. Ordered the Masala chai, possibly the worst I've ever had. The sandwiches were mediocre at best Service was slow, on the verge of inept.

We ate here 3x in the last 10 days; every time great service, food and enjoyment. We have half sandwich each allowing room for there excellent desserts too. My husband's favourite are the cupcakes while the chocolate peanut butter toffee bar is my favourite.

B’fast at Thornbury Bakery is also very tasty, the it coffee is the Kicking Horse brand, very aromatic. But due to the large cup, it gets cold very fast. The sitting area is very crowded in the morning. If you choose to sit down for b’fast or lunch, make sure you have a table first. Lots of baked goods to choose from, cookies look yummy, croissants look yummy, muffins look yummy. Another must visit place while in Thornbury,

Friendly staff, need to wait outside due to space constraints. They have the best buttery, melt in your mouth palmier cookies. Had an omelette to take out for breakfast. You place your order, exit the bakery to wait outside. They have a window to pass your order through when ready.

went with the family for a day drive and stopped here to have lunch, it was busy and had to wait for a seat, but everyone loved their dining choices. I had the Italian grill and it wsa great along with the side of slaw. The turkey avocado and roast beef provolone also looked very good. You order and pay and they bring to your table. Prices were very fair and service was friendly . A definite revisit is in order

We had the absolute pleasure of enjoying a healthy breakfast before our spa day. Fantastic coffee served in a beautiful mug. We ordered the avocado toast and the banana split parfait which we both shared. The multigrain bread was light yet filling. And we later encountered their breads in other restaurants in the area. That’s definitely a sign you’re doing something right!
