Jake’s, a place worth visiting

My understanding is that prior to the hurricane in 2019, this was a brick and mortar restaurant. Today it is a food truck in the Casuarina area of Abaco. But don’t let that dissuade you, the food is awesome. I’ve eaten there twice on this visit. Everything was delicious. Coconut cracked conch is amazing. Pork chop was fantastic. This place is worth the drive.

Great dinner

Great dinner at an affordable price. Quick friendly service. Menu is beyond burgers and seafood. Lots of different options. The only downside is that they didn’t have any ice cream left.

After you’re done with the peas n rice and the plantains and the craving for wings and burgers hit, this is your place! Goat pepper wings awesome. Reasonable prices and nightly specials.

Slow service

I have been here a few times over the past six months and the service is hit and miss. Today was lunch, ordered a taco salad, the place was less than 25% occupied and it took 45 minutes to bring it. I understand island time but this takes it to extremes. The salad was good!

Great Food

If you are looking for someplace with a fancy atmosphere, then this is not your place. However, if you want good food and a fair price served by a smiling friendly staff, then don't skip Jake's! The portions are large and delicious!

Good food and price, but no water view.

We were at Marsh Harbor in August with a large group of Boy Scouts (22) for Sea Base. Jake's was an excellent place to take the group since they could 1) handle such a large group, 2) had very reasonable prices and 3) had large portions. Overall the food and service was very good, but the meal that I had (Conch in a Bag - it's a Bahamas thing) was rather bland and I would not recommend it. Everything else on the menu seemed to be very good.

Great group service

You know how when you have a large group the service seems to take a downhill turn? Well, that was not the case at Jake's. Friendly service, tasty food. Recommended!

Great group venue

Went twice, once on Thursday evening with group of 6, second time on Tuesday as just a couple. Place was lively Thu; service was very friendly and accommodating, maybe because went with well-known local. It was mostly efficient except for veggie quesadilla, which took long time. Tue only ones there and one person behind counter; service good and fast. Had great mango jerk pork. Conch fritters better than a couple of other places in Marsh Harbour.

Good food

We were there for lunch. I had the pork chop, which was huge and very tasty. My husband ordered ala carte and received a full basket of French fries. You will not go away hungry. Food came in a timely manner and was good.

Cab Driver told us about all the normal tourist eating and drinking establishments in marsh Harbor, but recommended this when we asked where do you eat. service good, food good for the price, but beer not as cold as I like it. I would eat here again for sure.

Cheap Eats for Marsh Harbour

This place is not much on atmosphere, but on an island with expensive restaurants, Jakes is downright affordable. Chicken fingers in a bag with a ton of french fries in a bag for $13. Hamburger @ 10.50. Small fried conch plate is more then you can eat for $15.

Great Ice Cream!!!

Stopped in here for an ice cream and it turned out to be a nice little restaurant - wish we had known as it's our last day. Anyhow, had 2 great cones and going back later for malted milk shakes.

Pleasant, cafe style eatery.

Typically, for the Bahamas, this restaurant is somewhat expensive by either US or Australian standards. However, the portions are large, the quality of food is excellent, the service, for a cafe, is adequate and friendly. Of the restaurants we have visited in the past three days, this is the best. It seems oriented toward the locals rather than tourists. We both ate grilled fresh lobster served with a garden salad, mac and cheese* and peas and rice**, followed by a warm coconut and pineapple tart served with ice cream. Nice! We came here for dinner after eating lunch here yesterday. I has spicy pork chops and Miss has a burger. Both were excellent and I think the burgers here are the best on Abaco. * Mac and cheese is a Bahamian specialty and is so good it could be served as a desert. **Rice and peas is another Bahamian specialty, looks like hell but is delicious, especially when hit with lashings of hot sauce.

Not much to say really, I had a nice lunch here. It was quiet but might be busier in the evenings. They do specials nights, Steaks or Pizza etc. It is away from the seafront and more of a locals place than tourists but that can be a good thing! Staff friendly and quick. I'd stop in again.
